  1. OT: Celiac Disease on Canadian Privacy Law v. E-Mail Harvesting · · Score: -1

This is off topic in reply to your link. I've never heard of this disease before, but I too must have it. I have to watch what I eat extremely carefully or I will become very sick. I cant eat gluten, wheat, white flour, white sugar, yeast and various other food ingredients that are found in 99% of packaged/produced goods. I have to cook all my own meals to make sure I know what i'm putting in my body. I used to be perfectly healthy, but years of eating nothing but McDonalds and junk food has caused my body to now reject anything that isn't healthy, which is good in a way. I hope your kids are doing well, just thought I'd support your cause.. [end off topic rant]

I don't think it'll be a nail in the coffin for Sony. All my friends and I are waiting for the PSP to come out so we can play each other via wifi or bluetooth. We could care less about the Nintendo DS (after all, we're all older then 21 now and playing Mario just doesn't cut it any more)

I disagree.. While the Nintendo DS will be great for kids 12 and under, the PSP will be the choice for true geeks (wifi, camera, bluetooth, oh my!)

Plus Nintendo will just end up recycling the same games they've been recycling for 20 years now... I can see it now...

    Mario DS
    Zelda DS
    MarioKart DS
    Super Metroid DS
    Donkey Kong DS
    Wario DS
    Kirby DS
    MarioPaint DS
    MarioParty DS

While with the PSP, (which will use a 1.8gb optical disk), you can play games like Gran Turismo 4...Hmm, wonder what I will choose...

  10. How long before StarForce is cracked? on Controversial StarForce Copy Protection Creators Quizzed · · Score: 1

Warez groups seem to be able to crack every type of protection, whats to stop them from cracking this type of CD protection aswell?

Blizzard games have pretty good CD protection, you can burn a copy of the cd, and have a legitimate CD key. The burnt copy will install on another system, but once it comes time to play, the burnt CD isn't recognized as being the "play disc". My friend told me it's because there's some hidden serial number in the valid CD that doesn't get copied over when you burn the cd. Even this has been cracked as there are warez "patches" that allow you to play the game without a valid copy.

I cant't think of any CD protection method that hasn't been cracked, and surely, this "driver" protection method will be cracked within a month aswell.

It would be nice if there was a limit to the amount of emails someone could send every minute. Hopefully this would greatly reduce mass spamming. Most people take longer then 1 minute to write an e-mail, and they probably don't write emails once every minute either, so legitimate users shouldn't be affected. I don't think 2 seconds is long enough for a "complex" calculation of the "hashcash token". They should find a way to make it take atleast 1 minute.. No real user sends mail every 2 seconds.

Why must they program the updater to use a website? Wouldn't it be more secure if a program downloaded updates via the company's private ftp server or something a bit more secure then an IE browser using ActiveX.

I rather download some Patch.exe manually from a companies website then have it use IE and ActiveX to "automatically" modify my system.
