I have no idea what kind of linux users Real is trying to appeal to. Is there anyone out here remotely interested in running Real software on their Linux distro?
0. get girlfriend
1. make sure your girlfriend thinks this collection you have means more to you than anything else in the world
2. you do something that makes your girlfriend want to break up with you (like making her feel like this collection you have means more to you than she does)
3. girlfriend breakes up with you, destroys your collection to hurt you
4. act angry/depressed/sad, see her walking out
5. have a laugh
6. get back to your precious MMOG game
In the Wall Street Journal article HP representative in Europe claims the company doesn't make any money off regional coding for cartridges, and that consumers will win once the US dollar rises over Euro."
I'm from Europe, first time i went to the U.S. was pre 9/11. Arriving at Dulles they wanted to know where i was going, which address i was staying at, how much money i had, purpose of my stay etc. Maybe it was because i looked a little scruffy that they gave me a hard time (not having the address of the person who was to meet me at the airport didn't help either, i know kinda stupid not to bring at least that).
After 9/11 i usually had less trouble at customs (i've traveled to the U.S. another 3 or 4 times after). There's just the taking off of the shoes and belt and such and guys with machine guns were 'guarding' the airport right after 9/11. Last december I did have to give my fingerprints and got my picture taken though, but i believe next time i travel to the U.S. i need biometric information on my passport to get in anyway.
One thing that hasn't changed much seems to be that every time i'm on a plane there's always some lady knitting a sweater with these huge knitting pens...
Playing Heretic (or maybe Hexen) got me sick once. I was playing that game all the time. One day after playing the game for the better part of the day i got the flu or something and at night in my sleep i got all delirious, running for my life, walking up endless stairs and trying to fight my way out of certain death. I kept waking up, feeling more nauseous each time. At some point i didn't want to fall asleep anymore cause i felt so sick from having this game world stuck in my head.
Of course the next day i didn't go to school and enjoyed my sick day by playing the game again..
If you really like to do music and you can make a living of it, why not do that?
I agree the number one motivation to be a musician should be to enjoy it, but if it seems people are willing to pay for your music/performance than why not try to make a living with it?
They have to perform a lot.
Many bands that give away their albums on mp3 would like the increase their popularity so that next time they're in town you will go see their concert/performance.
Anyway, doing a couple of CC tracks doesn't mean you can't release a regular full album later that might score increased sales because of the band/group's exposure by the CC tracks.
Superman, Batman, Spiderman, X-Men, Hulk.. Those i actually had comics of when i was a kid, i think they are well known names around the world.
I might be wrong but i think Fantasic Four doesn't have such a big audience on this side of the Atlantic (i don't think Daredevil did well in Europe either, did it?)
I was actually amazed to see a bunch of unsecured networks in my list of available networks when i hooked up the small Wi-Fi antenna that came with my MSI mainboard (i figured i should get the platinum version with the Wi-Fi for only couple bucks more since i would probably want to have that kinda thing later anyway).
You see, one disadvantage of living in the hotel i live in is i can't get internet because the phone system and tv is hooked up to some central boxes and the hotel. One advantage of living in this particular hotel is that being on the 6th floor i can get plenty of free broadband internet with my little Wi-Fi antenna.
Either they don't get admin access and their machines keep working or you do give the admin access and they have the opportunity to mess up their machine. I'd make it a policy to not spend too much time trying to fix their machine infested with malware/spyware, missing dll's, deleted application files etc.
Penalty to pay for seriously messed up machine: you get a nice clean brand new install (takes you 2 minutes pulling an image of the OS on the machine if you take some time to set things up properply).
Just my 0.02
Lost cause, whatever the majority (media) decides it means, that's what it means.
Like skinhead is not equal to Neo-Nazi, but everybody and their mother thinks so now.
Spend days downloading movies? Last time i checked you can practically stream a dvd scene release on decent cable connection.
A 700mb xvid takes less than half an hour on a 5mbit line...
Most popular unix tools already have windows binaries available, like GNU utilities for Win32 - http://unxutils.sourceforge.net/
It's a little outdated but you can easily find newer versions of particular tools you like, also with practical GUI if you'd like. http://www.lexique.org/undows/
Then there's VNC, Putty..
I don't need the latest and greatest but having new cards on the market might bring the 9800 pro within the limits of my budget. I just don't want to spend more than 150 on a videocard that is already 'old'
Or actually, got a better job offer, but i had a simular job for about 2,5 years.
NO MY CAPS ISN'T O.., oh wait, yeah now i can log on..
I think there's a problem with the printer cause it just seems to make a weird noise and no paper comes out. I tried it 5 times already but now it also smells a bit funny
I don't know what happened, my computer just won't turn on this morning, it worked fine yesterday when i left the office.. really
I need you restore that super important file i just erased because i need it for a presentation with a client. Can you please hurry cause they'll be here in 30 minutes. Thanks
I know you can just stay calm and tell the user in a nice way he messed up and he can't depend on you being his saviour every time and forget about the poor user.
But usually it just doesn't work like that, especially in a small company...
Maybe you should think where you want to be in a year, still in this job or maybe something else?
People are just not interested in watching a show at a specific time tv programmers set anymore.
I don't understand why people watch shows with ad breaks every 10 mins anyway, totally kills the atmosphere.
Since the VCR people have already been copying shows to watch them whenever they want, ffwd-ing the ads.
Also TV programming is usually terrible. We know what shows we like, and if we can't see them when we want to because there's no dvd out, it'll be downloaded.
The TV business model is old, for live sports events and such it will still work, but for shows it's just not going to pay off anymore.
What is want from my mobile phone is to be able to make calls and receive calls. What i really don't need is for 'friends' to spot me at the 'pick your embarrassing place/time' with his mobile phone.

because Google usually reinvents a better wheel than the existing one.
maybe right-mouse click on the quilt image and choose save picture/image as... ?

This game taught me so many things like don't forget to remove your condom before going outside or the cops will arrest you for indecent exposure.

except for robot wars has radio controlled robots fighting in a real arena.

It's been a while since i've seen a pinball game i liked. Pro Pinball: Timeshock!, not by them i think though

I think it's not that much people are so nosey but it has something to do with only hearing half the story, which can be terribly annoying.

Didn't we just see an article about exploding phone batteries? Is this competing to make smaller things explode in an even more impressive way?
