When will they learn that if you're going to try to sell bits, you need to have ALL (or pretty much all) the available bits for sale. No one wants to sit around trying to figure out where to buy some particular bits, because they can always get them for free on TPB.
A) It cost you 3 precious hours of your limited lifespan.
B) More importantly, you were a very, very lucky bastard to have it taken care of so easily. Not everyone is so fortunate, nor might you be next time--so don't get cocky!
You bring up an interesting point. It makes me wonder what would happen if Youtube DID change formats, to some open standard. Maybe make high resolution video only available on that platform.
They are probably the sole player on the net with even the possibility of breaking the Flash stranglehold.
This is an idiotic desire. Anything I write on the internet can be called a "blog", and the idea that I should try to be fair toward the stupid, the evil, or even the opposing political party or football team is insipid.
Foxnews has apparently brainwashed a lot of people into thinking that "fair and balanced" is even a desireable thing. How about objectivity and truth, instead? Giving airtime to insane/wicked opposing viewpoints does no one any good. And the idea that this should be forced on individuals would only result in people not being allowed to have any actual opinion, at all.
Ideas are cheap and easy to come up with. You're not actually as brilliant as you think. The real work of any concept, games included, is implementation.
I'm not saying you can't succeed at it--but just that it's vanishingly unlikely.
I think Yahoo can be forgiven thus far, as anyone who works in the hosting industry knows the nature of customer service in it. That is, there are an awful lot of yahoos out there, as it were, that want you to make exceptions for their <insert_nonsense_here> all day, every day of the week, 365 days a year. It is truly astonishing the number of clueless people there are in the hosting realted businesses. And in the end, a sane person simply has to tune them out, as Yahoo has done, here.
So anyway, I suspect a Slashdot front page story will be sufficient to get the mailing list whitelisted.
lolz. I assure you they will find a way to f*ck it up. It's inevitable, and I'm not just being an anti-fanboi.
Their actions show that they simply do not understand the technology. There is no way they could set up a worthwhile site that people actually want to use--because you have to understand People and Things and stuff for that to happen. Which they manifestly do not.
I do realize dude is a total fuckwad, but having been in software development for a lot of years, I find that 9 out of 10 times I feel like blowing someone off for being that way or banning them, I'm better off actually listening to what they are saying, because if one person thinks a thing, many more do, too.
Ideally, software should not need documentation. So, while your criticism of his criticism is perfectly valid, you don't seem willing to accept the possibility that your application could use some user interface improvement.
Just saying.
Check out my game. Tell me what you really think--plenty of people have, and in the end even the assholes I value for their honest criticism, since they are not my friends or family and they feel VERY free to say what they really think.
..yet another way they fuck you. They SET the "taxes" and "fees", either through the locally bribed PUC or just arbitrarily on their own.
Like the "franchise fee". That's my favorite. I don't give a fuck what you have to pay for your fucking franchise--please stop pretending like you don't have any choice in the matter. But on the other hand, in a lot of places, they actually rig it up so that they are _required by law_ to charge for things like that, for money that they actually keep.
When it is, the people will overreact, which is very unpleasant for everyone.
The way to go is slow, but sure, change. Keep spreading the memes, and make people aware of these things. Over time, this will cause a sea change in public opinion.
Corruption will always be with us, to don't get too hung up on revenge. But we need to de-seed our governmental weedbag, too true.
Right. He should have said, "the group of companies who's public keys come bundled with web browsers have an effective monopoly on issuing 'real' CA certs."

No! Stay and fight!
You know what's fucked up, is I'm pretty sure you intended that to be funny, but instead you got modded Interesting. You have hit too close to home!

You...do have some weed left, don't you?
:-)
Why is it we have to be so concerned about the _intentions_ of people 180 some odd years ago?
I'm pissed off NOW.
Except they're giving this to middle schoolers.
Fortunatley, it's ungodly boring.

I like your sig, but I think I get more deer-in-headlights looks with: "the internet IS a peer-to-peer file sharing program".
Mind you that's the _good_ kind of deer in headlights look.
Actually, I know a lot of Republicans who loathe Stewart but love Colbert.
I don't think they get it.
Neither show made any mention of Obama's recent FISA vote. I was disappointed.
But they defintely lean liberal. I am a fan.

mod parent up
huh? I said no such thing.

Unless you're well connected.

Hardly. They allowed others to use _their_ computer resources. Next time use SSL over Tor.

lol. you think he's a person? he's the slashdot editors, or publisher, or something in between.
think...why does he keep getting front page stories? because they like helping jerks? no--they like helping themselves.

It's been too long since the Revolutionary War. The French need to come save OUR asses again.
Cheer up, it's not that bad.

You know, my first thought when I saw your post was, "3? Oh no, yet another new youth IM parlance I don't understand. Great."
I was relieved when you corrected it!
Right. He should have said, "the group of companies who's public keys come bundled with web browsers have an effective monopoly on issuing 'real' CA certs."
But you're right, his words were clumsy.
