As I may have said, ignorance is not a valid excuse. If you are working with something and are supposed to be explaining it to customers, you have a responsibility to know at least how much you really know about it. Anything less is "just as irresponsible as lying". It's only a matter of what that shirked responsibility is.
A prequel to Star Trek that had both Kirk and Spock in it would just leave the fans wincing.
I'm sure that Kirk and Spock did other things in their lives before becoming, respectively, captain of the Enterprise and science officer. What about a prequel which didn't necessarily involve interaction between the two, but instead focused on their individual stories separately, and on any effects they may have had toward the same ends? "Oh wow, I wish they knew each other... oh wait, they will!"
I've talked to many customer service reps who didn't know what they are talking about. I don't know that you can call it lying, it is perfectly possible this guy thought these things were true.
Talking about something about which you have little knowledge as if you do know all about it is just as irresponsible as lying. Either way, you're intentionally misleading the customer (either in the area of your knowledge or in the actual facts), and I have no sympathy for that.
The whole point of this particular CO2-"producing" processor is that your purchase of a unit adds that much more carbon-consuming effort, thereby compensating for the energy usage of the CPU. Sure, there are inefficiencies in between and all, but maybe they compensate a little for those as well?
... it'll be interesting to see how people keep those in place without jeopardizing the layouts in IE7.
I recently started tweaking my layouts for IE using conditional comments. There is an informative article on the IE Blog regarding CSS hacks and conditional comments. Using these, one can include a stylesheet that is targeted for IE versions greater than or equal to 5, for all those hacks, while other browsers only see comments in your markup.
As far as I know, the DNS resolution has never been the problem for MySpace loading slowly. It's slow because so many other people are hitting their servers and bandwidth.
At least another factor is rendering time for the ridiculous markup and other things people use on their profiles -- a client resources problem.
The way I look at it, the more rockets you launch in one afternoon that explode, the less likely the shuttle will go boom. That's how probability works, right? Right, guys? Guys?
"The layout is nice and clean, and is pretty much guarenteed to load in any browser. If we had more websites like this, the web would be so much more tolerable."
You mean, if we had more accessible and standards-compliant websites (and browsers, heh). Standards-compliant markup and style allow the user to decide.
What? I just bought a Nokia 3120 from Cingular. So far it's a great phone. As for ignoring the flip phone trend, I think it wasn't such a bad idea. I work for Sprint, doing technical support, and I get a good number of customers who despise flip phones for their fragility. Admittedly, I'm one of those people, so I may be a little biased, but Nokia isn't exactly self-destructing.
There are lots of bands that encourage distribution of their music, especially among indie circles. Sigur Ros is one good example of this; they even run their own DirectConnect hub for distributing their music! Despite this, I own two of their albums. I never would have purchased them if I had not heard their music through downloading it.
Yep. That's right. Nature has nothing to do with change. In their natural state, things wouldn't die, or be born, or grow, or move around. Just sit there. We humans caused all that motion and growth stuff.

Alternative gravity? Alternative energy? What else are we running out of?
Mod parent up for unintentional pun! ("... comments ... [are] groundless")
" ... and play great practical jokes."
I think you misspelled childish.
Great moderating there.

Invaluable extension for me -- I absolutely can't stand Flash ads, most especially those that make noise. Try it.
Works for me ... maybe you should do this thing called updating your software?

Do you just read headlines or what?
Anyone else thinking of Gattaca?
I don't think you understand the idea of joke posts. You're supposed to make a joke.
