Well, I think they do have a point there... there is plenty of competition around in the database market, and Oracle would still have to compete in a 'real' way - as far as I can see they can't be able to abuse their market position, simply because there's enough competition.
On the other hand, a big corporation getting even bigger isn't really a good thing...
The people at Rockbox weren't able to build in OGG support for the Archos either, since it's too cpu intensive. In the Archos, and probably in the iPod too, there is a hardware MP3 decoder.
iirc, they do give you a guide how to build your own OGG decoder, hardware-wise, but really, how many people would do that...
Ehrm, correct me if I'm wrong, but last time I checked, there were still a lot of democratic countries besides the US and Russia (which I suppose you're referring to) .
Well, let's hope all this leads to more secure phones in the future... isn't that what's hacking all about ? Detecting flaws without abusing them, so companies can improve their product ?
Probably a somewhat stupid question, but doesn't Debian only distribute the software, and therefore doesn't really have anything to do with the Sender-ID and the possible patents it depends on ? Or is Debian plainly boycotting any program from distribution that uses Sender-ID ?
With the recent wired article where a Microsoft security head admitting his use of Firefox
He never said he used Firefox as his browser, he merely said he had to install an update that morning. As a security head, I really am not suprised he has other browsers installed...
Unauthorized reproduction or distribution of this program, or any portion of it, may result in severe civil and criminal penalties, and will be prosecuted to the maximum extent under the law
Well, if that's the only thing the program is about...:)
Really ? Sounds kind of odd to me that a company that behaves as a medium between viewer and content, that provides a quick and easy way to find the content that is already there, gets sued for the content they don't even provide...
... unless you mean google cache, that might be a tricky one
I really never understood people who watch anime - what's exactly the fun of watching a cartoon in a category where a lot of real movies are, imho, better ?
I have a fun roommates who watch anime all day, and really, i don't get it... so what's the fun ? Is it just the same as some people at the age of 40 still read comics ?
... I lately ge tthe feeling companies here are far behind the open-source 'thought' than US companies. Maybe it's that they're afraid or such, I don't know, but I rarely come across companies implementing OSS here.
And besides, this forums for universities is a good thing, Microsoft is starting to give out free software licenses to students over here...:)
This indeed has been the case. Redmond didn't start enforcing the real serial checks until XP for no reason, neh ? First, make sure that everyone uses Windows by not doing anything about copying, making sure that all developers develop applications for Windows, and when you're big enough, start enforcing legal serials.
Great, now let's all hope they in fact *will* beat WinFS's search capabilities. It isn't really that suprising that a project like this would be announced some day, the OS community needs an anwser for every Windows feature nowadays, neh ?

So now that we got a really tiny robot that walks on water, what can we do with it ?

I don't think this is true... I think political views can develop, and change. It's not something that you have when you're born...
