Bingo. At least one person here understands the biggest reason not to allow cell phones. It would hammer the cell networks. Not only are phones travelling at 500 mph going to be hopping networks constantly... but phones that are high in the atmosphere will be likely to be able to hit many towers at the same time and probably constantly trying to hop between them. The networks aren't really designed to be used in high-atmosphere and would probably require some reworking if they allowed cells on airplanes.

You do realize this is the cause of most security vulnerabilities across the board, right? It's hardly a solved problem. Although in a way you are right, most first programming classes are taught using safer languages than C now, so maybe they are teaching the solution. If someone really need the programming language to stop you from overrunning a buffer, they probably should just stop writing software because its obviously not their forte. But you're right, this is the leading cause of vulnerabilities, and its silly that it even happens. People just need to learn to keep better track of buffer sizes and use safer memory writing functions.

Now that's just crazy. It's clear you're not a scientist. I remember when Perlmutter gave his initial SN indications of an accelerating expansion, he was met with wild derision at the conference I was attending. Astronomers (and physicists) *love* to prove each other wrong. New and bizzarre theories are rightly derided until they can stand up to the same level of rigor and evidence as the rest of the body of knowledge. It's clear now, after many more candidates have been observed, that Perlmutter was right. Good example... and you're right on here... science by its very nature is skeptical of any new ideas... if you're going to bring forth a controversial theory, you're going to need to be ready for that theory to be derided by scientists everywhere for a while as it is tested and show to have legs or fall flat... it just goes with the territory....

I actually agree... the Linux/Unix file tree is confusing and gives the impression of being unorganized. I find it difficult to determine where things exist on my Linux machine as an advanced user, I can only imagine how it looks to a novice. A lot can be done to Linux to add usability for less advances users while keeping the options open for experts... I'd like to see even more strides made toward usability in future releases.
