The strategy of focusing on the most populous states still holds true under the Electoral College.

Actually, no. The strategy that holds true under the Electoral College is that of focusing on the most populous SWING states. Neither candidate spend much (if any) time campaigning in California, the most populous state. As a resident of California, I would prefer a system wherein two electoral votes (the number of Senators) are awarded to the statewide winner, and one electoral vote is awarded to the winner of each Congressional district. No Constitutional amendment required, as the method by which a state selects its Electors is determined by the state, not by the Federal government.

What happens is that the media are conducting exit polling (asking people as they leave the polls who they voted for) and are reporting that before the polls close.

Maybe a decade and a half ago, but not anymore; at least not legally. The Representation of the People Act of 2002 made it a crime to report exit poll results before a state's polls have closed.

All the polls in a state have the same closing time, but polling places stay open until all the people in line at closing time have had a chance to vote. So, some votes get cast after "official" closing time, and after some precincts begin reporting results.

    (2) Each individual precinct reports results when the count in that precinct is complete. This, not exit polling, is why the election night news coverage always goes like "In Florida, with 30% of the vote counted ..."

The government prosecuting speech of an individual is precisely the point of this whole post.

Free speech is not unlimited. There are quite a number of restrictions on speech (e.g., encitement, slander and libel, child porn, fighting words, false advertising. Of course, that's in the USA, and TFA is about France.

If a group of Christians started executing people for lighting unauthorized fires, wearing unkempt hair, eating pork, having sex with specific relatives, having gay sex, or committing blashphemy, they'd most likely be called "radical" and distinguished from run-of-the-mill or 'moderate' Christians, even though the Bible (in Leviticus) imposes the death penalty for all those things. As a matter of fact, most 'moderate' Christians would consider Fred Phelps and his little group of warm-hearted folks, radical.

Tesla Model S = 4,608 to 4,936 lbs; range = 208 to 315 miles. Cadillac ATS = 3,373 to 3,571 lbs; range 320 - 480 miles. If you're concerned about the added cost of a feature you won't use, if you're buying a premium phone the difference is in the noise.

If you see a few incompatible wireless charging standards as a problem, how do you feel about Lightning vs. micro USB vs. USB-C? Throw in the old Apple 30-pin connector for good measure. My old Samsung Galaxy S4 and my Tab S both have replaceable batteries, but they're not interchangeable. What a fucking nightmare!

Wireless chargers dangerous? I haven't been able to find any stories about fires caused by wireless chargers, for what that's worth. There are a few complaints about phones getting hot; most of them appear to be related to the use of cases containing metal foil; sort of like microwaving something in a metal container.
