You can also have AdBlocker in Opera, see here: http://my.opera.com/jor/journal/ It's based on User CSS .. it blocks ads quite well, even some that Firefox doesn't.

  10. Re:Underdog? on Opera 8 Released · · Score: 1

I really wonder why on earth people use FireFox? And how come it's suddenly so big thing? I mean, FireFox is quite young project and everybody seems to use it now. So.. what browser did you use before it? Do you really think Firefox is "in" now?

And Firefox used to have slogan "Firefox is the most customizable browser on the planet" or something. That's so not true.
Opera _IS_ infact way more configurable. Can you configure all the menus, keyboard hotkeys, mouse gestures ("mouse hotkeys"), position of toolbars, what javascript is allowed to do and what it isn't.. Can you? I don't know about FF but you sure can in Opera.
And a VERY nice feature in Opera 7.60/8 is User Javascript. See here: http://my.opera.com/hallvors/journal/44 http://my.opera.com/hallvors/journal/45 You can even create adblocker type of thing with User Javascript (there's already one, search opera forums/journals. It blocks Google and slashdot ads just fine :)
You should REALLY try Opera and see what you're missing.

They removed mp3 support because of license restrictions. Same thing as Red Hat and Fedora did. And Mandrake and Ubuntu, etc.

And btw who uses mp3s anymore? Ogg Vorbis beats mp3 hands down \o/
Ogg is free, (supported by xmms), patentless and offers better compression (or what ever you call it) than mp3.

  15. Nothing's changed.. on Hack turns GIMP into Photoshop Look-alike · · Score: 1

    Guys,
    did you even try GimpShop?

Now, I see nothing different in GimpShop (2.2.4) and gimp (2.2.3), except for the splash screen.
Well, it seems the only thing that's changed are the _menus_. It doesn't look like Photoshop at all.
So what's the point? Rename "Blend" to "Gradient Tool"? Nothing else?

    That's just stupid.

Opera is WAAAY more configurable than Firefox, K-Melon or any other browser. And it's fast, light, multiplatform, VERY GOOD browser. Tabs are implemented very nicely with Opera, unlike FF tabs ugh they suck :|
And mouse gestures are on Opera by default. Same goes for 100 other features.
