There are actually many South Koreans who wish for reunification. There are still many families seperated to this day, and on holidays, many travel close to the boarder so they will at least be closer during holidays....
that's kind of funny, since "Unfortunately postage stamp cost fifty Korean currencies or $10,000 American Dollars " is way off.
I think yesterday when I got some korean won out of the atm, the exchange rate was about 1176won to 1USD. 50 won is barely enough to have change for...
There are workers in the government who are blind. Most of them, if working with a computer, have a text to speech program. It's just another one of those things about not letting a disability, such as blindness be a bar to employment.
A minor itch. But it doesn't seem to be nearly as itch inducing as playind drums on Rock Band. For several test subjects and different testing times (my friends and I just messing around),there has yet to be a test where there was no itching involved. I know correlation =/= causation, but the statistics speak for themself....
Free newspapers are also great packing material. I was able to send a somewhat fragile christmas present in an otherwise empty duffle bag thanks to free newspapers.
They may not be the greatest bit of news, however they do have their uses...
Its one of the basic principles of the Law of War/Law of Armed Conflict(LoW/LOAC). Minimize civillian deaths. Use means that are proportional to the target. If there is a single soldier in an apartment building in a crowded town, blowing up the city block IS NOT the correct response. Unfortunately, there still are people dieing from wars they are not involved in. The good thing is most countries follow LOAC to minimize civillian casualties.
Even if subsequent experiment laid bare the flaws in the original conception, the truth now has a far greater obstacle in its path than simple ignorance; it now has to overcome accepted falsehood.
And how is that different from any other experiment using the scientific method?
If a new hypothesis comes to challenge an older accepted theory, isn't that the same kind of conflict?
Right now the only voip available is skype or LG Dacom's voip that I can tell. There are issues with both magic jack and vonage, however with magic jack it seems that changing the port number should work.
Home servers do not need to be rack mountable behemoths that rise like a dark tower and suck enormous amounts of energy to run. converting a small laptop into a convenient server is sometimes more efficent in both space and power consumption than a standard desktop. add a little bit of space for heating, run some ethernet cable and a power cord, and you can set it and forget it till needed to upgrade, or depending on OS of choice, reboot.
for a small office or even small business that doesn't need massive IT support, its an option that could make use of older laptops that frequently get trashed
1) Installation is no longer a pain in the ass. With all the new hardware coming out XP is increasingly in need of extra drivers before install. On a floppy disk... and only a floppy disk.
you might want to try http://nliteos.com/ to add drivers to your windows installation. it will only work if you can get the inf files so you can add them to the disc, but some drivers can be extracted with winzip or 7zip and the like. there is also a good bit of community support on the forums
True members of the Tin Foil Beanie Brigade know the location of all the few and far between payphones, and have sanitation kits with them at all times to make sure you can never tell they've been there.
Keep in mind most "sanitation" kits are no more than some dirt and a bottle of cheap liquor, but so far we have yet to run into a problem....
Things like privacy are sacred to some people, and unimportant to others. People who advocate that they have nothing to hide is all well for them, however it does not apply to every single person in the world.
And it does not necessarily have to be work related, or something proprietary that can be stolen and sold for cash. Perhaps it is embarassing information on the person, private pictures of family, or something else that is legal and legitimate to keep private. If you have no problem forceing big brother on yourself, that is ok. That just doesn't work for everybody...
If a group of people are willing to shut down a nuclear power plant in order to get materials for weapons, what is to prevent them from tampering with this detector? As far as safeguarding that the material does not fall into the wrong hands, the fact that it could happen makes the detector a moot point.
And besides, if we know when plutonium is stolen, we'll never get that DeLorean over 88mph again.....

Soldiers can't be charged with conduct unbecoming for bad behavior unless they are in uniform, so why should it be different?
Actually, they can under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. It applies to all US service members regardless of location, in and out of uniform.
I don't see why something similar wouldn't apply to other nations militiaries or other government organizations...

They just took jumping the shark to a whole new level...

By the same token, can no one spoof ID cards?
http://xkcd.com/463/ has a comic that is about voting machines, but might be slightly similar to this situation...

how many websites can be gotten into with this simple combination is astounding....
Could this be one of the first steps for the death star?

What exactly is the edge of the internet? Can you cut with it? Should there be some kind of safety warning?
And how exactly does a series of tubes have an "edge"?

There is also folding at home http://folding.stanford.edu/ that might help someones life more than software ever will.
I am all for open source, but there are some better places to donate some spare cpu cycles
"carry their iPods empty through customs and go online and fill them up"
carry them empty? isn't one of the main reasons to bring them is for something to listen to before and during the flight?
