  1. this is kind of a cool idea on Replace Your Windows With LCD Panels · · Score: 2, Interesting

right now it's probably now very cost friendly for most people. In the future though, I can imagine city dwelling people, maybe someone in New York/L.A. etc, just outright boarding up all the windows. Replace them with an array of LCD's that have a live or recorded image of the beautiful countryside, or mountainous range of colorado.... moving from dusk to dawn, to give the sense of realtime scenery.

I couldn't think of a better escape from the urban nightmare that I live in right now. If it were affordable, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

at least in the presidential election. If you truly want to make changes in the american system of politics, third party candidates need to win on a state by state level... not in the federal elections. This will achieve nothing.

Of course, nothing much is gained in american politics by third party candidates because winner-takes-all, thus you have 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th parties just stealing votes from the primary (most electable) parties.....

Third, Fourth, Fifth, etc parties make sense but not in america... They are truly fucked. Sure there are a few "independent" candidates out there but thats truly the exception.

Do I have a question ? Ya, When will you be withdrawing your candidacy from this race ? That's the only question that's of any importance. One that Ralph Nader will never acknowledge, will you ?

Thats nice, except when the free market fails them and the government has to bail-out billion dollar auto companies like Chrysler or a handful of airlines, costing the tax payer hundreds of billions of dollars.

Americans pride themselves on the capitalist freemarket economy they've built. Everything is about Entrepreneurship and Less taxation for the common business man. It's funny they dont recognize that the $400,000,000,000 spent every year on their gigantic military machine is basically a giant social welfare program, plus another 25% of the annual $2 trillion u.s. federal budget going to social programs (which people often mistake for good capitalist ventures.)

Well, the only two that are worth mentioning are GNUnet and Entropy. GNUnet has it's advantages but lacks the concept of "homepages," aka. Freesites (freenet's version of a webpage.) This is a real drawback when it comes to attracting newbies. Entropy on the other hand has the advantage of being written in C (or ++) and having a http proxy/interpreter... but development is slow and the userbase is very very small.

In the end, when it comes to security, freenet is probably the most secure, it has the largest userbase but it's flakey as hell.. Ever since March 31st/April 1st of 2003, it's just been downhill.

That assumes freenet works, AFAIK it's still fucking broken. Ian Clarke is playing too much politics with the project and the only coder that really understands freenet (Mathew Toseland) is swamped with ideas, day after day.. it just gets worse and worse...
