Er.. I hate Windows as much as the next guy, but really, when was the last time you saw Windows bluescreen?

Yesterday morning at approximately 9:30 am. Rebooted, and it did not blue screen again. Weird one time hardware issue or improperly intialized kernel buffer? Who knows. I see blue screens on various computers about once every three months. This is FAR superior to the six times a week the 9x versions had, but certainly less than ideal... and far more than the number of linux kernel panics/lockups that I have seen.

Because Mac users will treat any Windows apps running on OS X like second class citizens. They'll stomach it, but not for long.

People credit Apple for how apps are consistently Mac-like and interoperate with each other, but the users are the ultimate enforcers. Any developer who steps out of line is crucified.

I bought a Powerbook around this time last year. While I do appreciate consistency, I have not noticed any consistecy above and beyond anything in the win32 world. Sure, there are some REALLY bad win32 apps out there (Nero!), but for the most part, they are consistent.

I may not be your typical Mac user, but I am not likely to reject useful win32 apps just because they do not look like MacOSX apps.

I just bought another laptop this year... but it wasn't a Mac. (It might have been a Mac had they released bootcamp a month earlier though!). The reason? I wanted useful apps and fun games on "powerful" hardware. Maybe I will buy a Mac (64 bit cpu please) next year since bootcamp is available. I will definitely buy one if there is native win32 support regardless of how "artsy" the apps look.

Readbility: It needs to look like a printed page. Jagged fonts at 80DPI will NOT cut it at all. My eyes are already sore from reading these crappy computer screens all day.

Price: I am not too picky about the initial costs for the hardware but I will be damned if I will pay more for an electronic version of a book than for the hardcopy. The electronic copy had better be significantly cheaper.

DRM: I won't really care about this as long as I can make a dump of the filesystem of the device. Make it all one large encrypted file, I don't care. There is no excuse for not allowing me to protect against loss. Creating a method where I can loan my copy to another person with an electronic reader is rather necessary too. Have it delete from my filesystem when it goes over to my friends filesystem is cool.

I guess what I am getting at is that in order for your position to have meaning, you have to limit the sysadmins artificially... and I do not really understand why this would be a good idea. If I were to be thrust into your position, I would be concerned only with the personnel aspect of it all... as a manager or supervisor, not as a syadmin to a bunch of sysadmins.
