"The difference is that Google will tell the person that an item was censored, whereas MSN and Yahoo will not be doing that."
This is exactly why I think this whole Google censorship uproar is completely silly. The blame for the censorship falls entirely on the government. Since you know the particular results are censored, you can find another way to get that particular set of information in another way.
"Though personally I wouldn't be getting too excited about it unless they've made some serious changes since last time they showed it off. So far it looks like more of the same for the ever more tired 3D Zelda formula. I can't wait till the first Revolution Zelda since Miyamoto has promised that Twilight Princess will be the last Zelda in this mold."
Ocarina of Time was simply epic. I can still go back and play it for hours on end. Sure, Majora's Mask wasn't as exciting, but if all they did was change the dungeons and such in Ocarina of Time, it would be a worthwhile game. I might add that my son is interested in having me buy an ocarina for him... I wonder where he got that idea from.:)
Yeah, that has always mystified me. Everyone seems to have forgotten exactly what happened during their childhood. I recall quite clearly being a child and all of these cries of, "think of the children", have me scratching my head as to why anyone would need to think of the children in that situation. Maybe I was just tougher or smarter or more independent than the average child though. *shrug*
We were talking about sex, smoking, cursing, etc by 8. We always just hid it from the adults.
"It has the problem, however, of overcoming entrenched attitudes towards 1) anything that's free, and 2) anything that's unfamiliar.[...] Often, there's vendor platoform requirements that'd make that impossible, or management level edicts that prescribe platoforms."
Was this a freudian slip or a fnord? Since you did it twice, I doubt it was a misspelling.:)
Hm. Interesting postulations. Iron does not fuse very well and if it were fusing in our sun, we would see more evidence of it. What you say sounds reasonable otherwise.
Ocarina of Time was one of the best games ever made. It had enjoyable mechanics, many places to explore, good puzzles, and an epic storyline. I bought the game "for my son" when he was three years old. My son and I played that game after school/work for hours on end. He loved it intensely and I enjoyed it as well.
The "eyeball monster" scared the crap out of him, so he handed the controller off to me when he got there, but for the most part, he played the game himself...
It was Ocarina of Time that got my son interested in reading. He was always asking me to tell him what the words were on the screen, but since I was not always available, it gave him an impetus to learn to read himself. That game is directly responsible for my son being the top reader in his class now.
The puzzles stimulated his problem skills. He is always the first one in his class with the answer to any problem posed.
Hm... now I do not remember why I went off on this tangent. I am sure there was a reason, but I do not recall now. Sorry.
shit. if i had a choice between dying from complications due to AIDS and possibly dying from a completely experimental drug, i would choose the drug without hesitation. you do not have the right to make such a choice for me. to be fair to your point of view though, i would agree that such a drug should not be used on someone who is not very near to dying.
thankfully, i do not have such a decision to make.
however, I think you have to allow them for any group of consenting adults. Why stop at two?
Good question. I don't think we should stop at two. I also don't think we should limit it to humans... except it does need to be limited to beings who can intelligently enter into such a union. Practical necessity limits this to humans only at this point.
yes, it is a great pseudonym. i like the attitude of "it is better to be pleasant than smart". of course, they are not necessarily mutually incompatible qualities.:)
i wonder how many people recognize where your pseudonym comes from...
Wow, you really stirred up a hornets nest here.:) After reading many of your comments, it seems as if you might be amenable to the concept of civil unions for gays. Is this correct?
My god. Is it REALLY that bad? One in every 62 sites is intentionally trying to cause code to execute on my computer surreptitiously? It would seem to me that this is clearly illegal. Why aren't any law enforcement agencies doing anything about it?
On another note, it would appear that the web is a vaste warzone/wasteland. Not counting the one in 62 sites mentioned previously, many of the websites that are left are just plain old garbage. It is a wonder that anyone uses the web at all. Thankfully, there is so much more to the internet than http.
However being forced to add the word theory to every mention of the phrase "big bang" provides no real benefit in delivering clear and understandable explanations of scientific discoveries or ideas.
Hmmm... I think I respectfully disagree. For myself, I find that I can get intellectually lazy and start thinking of things as facts if the word 'theory' is not added to the end of the label. It is likely that others could be so "lazy" as well. It is certainly clear that leaving off the word "theory" gives ammunition to the freaks who would pollute our brains with crap.

I went up to 220 and back down again to 190 before I arrived at 230 which is where I am at now. I say from experience that I do not want to go down below 190. I do not care if others label me as fat. I am not self concious and do not need anyone elses approval of my body. My wife and I are both happy. I have to admit though, once I started getting close to 240, I started feeling that my weight was getting uncomfortable. 190-230 is fine for me.:)
Well, it seems that the drivers are tied to the laptop in windows to co-habitate with the power-saving etc etc... so I couldn't update from the official NVidia ones. And of course, my laptop vendor doesn't offer updates for anything over a year old it seems.
I had a similar problem with a Toshiba laptop that I owned. I merely found a more recent model of laptop with the same chipset in it and downloaded those drivers instead. Worked flawlessly.

I am about 6 foot tall and when i was as old as 24, I weighed 128 pounds. I could not afford food. When I turned 24, I found a job as a chef and started to eat. I weighed around 160 during that job and it felt good. At 30, with a reasonable job with reasonable pay, I started gaining weight. I maxed out at 238 fully clothed. 238 pounds is much more comfortable than 128 pounds. While I am mildly interested in losing some weight, I do not ever want to go below 190 again. I have no issue with being called overweight. You, nor anyone else, can make me feel guilty about being the weight that I am at. (not to imply that you are actually trying to make me feel guilty)
I ditched school that day. I just happened to turn on the TV (CNN?) and watch the launch. When it started to "explode", it did not seem real. How could something like this happen? There was a teacher (civilian) on board. I had 100% faith in the perfection of NASA just before that happened. It was quite surreal to watch the shuttle disintegrate.
I also distinctly recall thinking that nobody would die since they surely had some sort of plan in case of failure... how little I knew at the time.:(
First, allow me to thank you for taking my question seriously. It is initended as a serious question. I rather figured that you would claim that The Holy Bible would be the guide to allowing God to govern oneself. To be honest, I see lots of wisdom and even what I consider to be Truth in that book. It does seem rather incoherent at some points: e.g. stoning someone to death for gathering wood for a fire on the Sabbath. Killing almost everyone on the earth off because a majority were "sinners". There are more examples, but the extremity of the incoherence is not relevant, just that there is incoherence.
There are other books which people claim to teach God's will. How am I to decide which book is the One True Book? The only thing most religions seem to have in common is the theme of Love... and I do consider Love to be a Truth. Regardless, it does not seem that there is any way to allow God to govern. *sigh* I apologize for taking your time up with this conversation. Peace be with you.

I am not trying to bait you here (although I am sure it will sound like it). How can men be governed by God? I have never heard God tell me any laws that I should personally follow. Is there some book where God's laws are written down? I have read several books that claim to be that book.
Honestly, how can men (people) allow themselves to be governed by God? It sure would be nice to not have any tyrants in charge.
