However, this should help open up the refill market a bit more.

As a former HP drone (in the laserjet group) I was told from my coworkers that supported the inkjet lines that the problem with refills was that the print heads only have so much lifespan. The amount of ink in a cartridge was supposed to last (under typical use, your milage may very) for the lifespan of the printhead. I felt it then and I still feel now that it's just a bunch of marketing BS, but that is the party line AFAIK.

However removing the printhead from the cartridge removes the objection to use refill kits. I'm sure that a new official reason will be issued shortly to cover this gap.

At the same time this also opens up a cash flow for HP in selling replacement heads. ("No refurbs please" HP will certainly say)

Oddly enough, two of the times I moved I did not fill out a change of address form. I simply contacted all of the people and vendors I thought should know about my move with my new address. My thought was to not have a bunch of junk mail follow me.

It seems that Balley is a bit more aggressive than other places about keeping track of it's former members.

I belonged to a Balley's gym a few years ago but decided to end my membership since I wasn't using it (big shock). The terms of my contract gave me an out clause within the first 90 days and I took advantage of it.

A few months after I had left I got a note in the mail saying that it was time to pay my bill. WTF? I had closed out the account and had paperwork signed by them that it was all over.

I was about to ring them up and start bitching them out when I read the paper a little closer to discover that it was not a bill but a "Please Come Back" letter disgusied as a late bill. I tossed the thing in the trash and did not think twice about it.

But the story does not end there. Every few months after that I would get another one of these psudeo-bills in the mail. I just tossed these as well and went on about my life. As I mentioned that was a few years ago. In the meanwhile I have moved 4 times and I am still getting that damn snail mail spam.

At least I can use them to light a fire if I need to . Let's see you kids do that with your fancy email spam that's all the rage these days.

Rossi was not being a cry baby. If that were true he would have been asking the courts to hand him the election. (cough cough Al Gore)

What he was asking for was that the questionable results be set aside and the state be given a chance to have an honest election. (i.e. without King County's felons and dead voting)

That being said, I will abide by the rule of law and accept Gov. G. as our overlord for now. On the other hand I sure hope we can all work to prevent this from happening again.

Perhaps those of us in Island county can set the example since it seems we were one of the few places that seem to have a properly working election board.

Just to clear up any misconceptions, the more you process a coffee bean the more caffeine you remove.

As a former *$ barista and manager I know form where I speak. They spend a lot of time on coffee education if you are willing to listen.

If you want a better 'buzz' go with a lighter roast coffee. Darker roasts like French have been toasted longer to produce a deeper flavor but loose some of the caffiene in the process. The same is true for using an espresso roast for drip coffee. It makes a mean cup of coffee but sure has less caffeine than a cinniamon roast you will find in cheap 'over the counter' coffees in the supermarket.

Perhpas the biggest misconception is that multiple shots of espresso will really light you up. Wrong. All you are getting is a very concentrated flavor not a super boost of caffiene. That is cuz by the time it gets in to your latte the beans have been deeply roasted (to an espresso roast) and then 'super brewed' (as compared to traditional drip coffee)in the espresso maker. So if you are thinking that the quad shot Americano (espresso and water) you get to impress you buddies is some superdrink then just put on a dress and change you name to Sally. That is about as far removed from the 'manly' coffee my dad drank in the navy that you can get and still call it the same drink.

  16. Re:What about Replay Radio on Time-Shifting For The iPod · · Score: 1
I tired using Replay Radio but it didn't want to work on a machine that I only access using Remote Desktop. Instead I ended up using Total Recorder. Unlike Replay, TR captures the stream before it goes in to the audio drivers thereby skipping the whole Remote Desktop issue. It uses it's own driver to decode the stream and then it uses whatever encoding you have loaded to save the file. It will also neatly build the ID3 tags as well. At the end of the weekend I have a nice collection of NPR programming to load on to my little white buddy and face the Monday morning commute.
