It could be automated, but having someone chase off any random animals (birds, neighbor's cat, mailman) before turning it on might be prudent.
Of course if we recover the upper stage and there wasn't/isn't a satellite in it, it would be hard to argue that it was anything but a ballistic test, so it seems like the NK claim to it claiming it was a spacecraft wouldn't be relevant.
I'd have to say this is more akin to the guy who spent the night with your daughter knocking on the front door the next day and saying, "hey, mind if I get another 30 second quickie with her?"
Luckily it is never too late to switch to a new career you end up despising as it sucks the life out of you and makes you age at twice the normal speed.
