Maybe they will come up with new plots and heroes, perhaps with a modern element. Keep an eye out for the likes of Subpeona Man and his sidekick Lawyerdude, hunting down the file-trading criminals to make the world a safer place!
Noooo, she is too short and wimpy looking. I don't know if she can act, but Lucy Lawless (Xena) might be a good choice; at least she looks the part. Then again if the outfit is skimpy enough maybe the acting part is optional.
Thanks for the names, I knew I had heard something about this in the news before. Look further up the thread for the CNN article that stated they had both been moved back to US soil after being held at Guantanamo.
How about these people? They were moved to Guantanamo, and then transferred back to the US when their citizenship was confirmed. Since we don't even know how many people are being held there, how do we even know there aren't other American citizens being held there?
Thanks, you worded the questions I was bringing up better than I did:-) Personally I think the people held at Guantanamo (mostly) deserve to be there, but how do we know for sure if we don't even know the number of people held there, much less who they are and why they are being held? How can you trust a government with the powers created by the Patriot Act to not abuse these powers if they run prisons with no accountability outside the country like Guantanamo Bay?
But what if American citizens are being detained there? I can't seem to find any report one way or the other, and since apparently no one is allowed to visit all of those detained there (at least that I have heard of) how can we know who or even how many people are detained there?
How about Guantanamo Bay, at least if there were some way to actually question the people being detained there? Some 545 people from 40 countries are being held there. Nearly all of the detainees are being held without charges and some have been imprisoned there for more than three years.
The good news is we can make a device that does all this. The bad news is if you want to use it for more than an hour, you need to either plug it into the wall or carry around a 20lb (about 9kg for the metrically-enhanced readers) external battery.
I just assumed from this that they would release the specs of the WinFS filesystem so that any OS could read them. I mean as a paying customer, not only do I want to be able to read my files from any OS that might be on my computer, but I should also be able to take my portable disk anywhere with WinFS on it and use it anywhere right?
I bet he has cool business cards: Daniel Quinlan - Spam Assassin He can tell people his job is to kill spammers. Which reminds me, I wonder if anyone at the IRS actually checks what job title you put on your tax forms?
My favorite job interview was at Ericsson(sp?) Three guys were interviewing me, one was a pointy-hair type and the other two were sysadmins (I was applying as a third sysadmin). The two sysadmins kept running in and out, with users waiting outside the door bugging them. In between running in and out they explained the job: manage several hundred workstations and printers spread across several buildings (they kept saying "lots of printers" very often; like they broke often or something). 24/7 oncall pager, etc. etc. The kicker was at the end of the interview the pointy-hair says, "Oh, and the other two guys are quitting in a few weeks, so you will help hire their replacements". It was hard for me not to just stand up and run for the door.....
Dear Baskin Robbins,
Since I am too fat and lazy from eating your product to go get some down at the local store and my friend malus doesn't have one where he lives, could you drop a few free scoops into envelopes and mail them to us please? Thanks.
Reflections off the Gothamesque towers would provide more opportunity for each photon of sunlight to interact with the p/n junction of the cell.
We need mirrored solar cells. Just set them up so they reflect the light back and forth between all the cells for a neverending unlimited source of energy!
Do cable subscribers get to withhold a percentage of their monthly payments in compensation for the good bits of programs that have been cut/bleeped out? If they edit out 10% of the total months content, then it is only fair that their subscribers get a 10% discount right?
What will be really cool is when they take someone to court for illegally swapping this movie over the internet. If they make a film about that guy that would be too many levels of recursion for most filmgoers.
Kind of offtopic, but I found it amusing that in April of 2004, this movie had the most illegal downloads. No irony there for sure.
In the American lawyer-infested society I live in, "can someone get sued somewhere" is practically the first thing that pops into my head when I hear about something new. Pretty sad really.
I just realized, there are other good uses for "blow phones" too: simply add a breathalyzer to avoid those embarrassing late night drunken calls to your ex.
I can't wait to see people blowing into their phones before they make a call, unless they do what the article recommends: The device will help mobile phone users charge their phones while travelling in a bus, a car or a train. All they need to do is -- place the turbine against the wind flow. In other words, hold it out the window. Can they get sued when people drop their phones, or lose an arm while holding it out the window?

If you need more minions and you offer health insurance, I know a few unemployed geeks who would like to make your acquaintance.

Don't worry, the free scoops are from the "Bubblegum/Lemon Custard/Mint Orea swirl" bucket anyway. Yeeeeech.

After seeing the first few comments, I wonder what the record is for the most Flamebait/Troll mods in one story? And shall we break that record today?
Well, I have to admit it is nice to know how much Microsoft values MY data, which is about $5 more than the value I would put on their software.
Can you declare a mistrial if the jury can't stop laughing after they hear what the case is about?

Ayieeeee!
One advantage of this search site is it has a name that most slashdot people can easily remember.
