About the only thing that ISN'T oss in webos is the display layer on top. And you can get X server running on the pre as well.

So yeah it's not as FOSS as MeeGo, but it's still a HUGE win for oss and unlocked phones.
Heh, webOS can be rooted by just turning on dev mode (just type in the konami code and press the "dev mode on" toggle)
And palm not only SUPPORTS homebrew they actually paid to have the lead homebrew developer flown to the dev day as a keynote speaker.
My one wish for 2011 (early 2011) is webOS on solid and fast hardware. I believe it is the BEST mobile OS but it is REALLY in need of some hardware to support it!
Just a clarification: Catholics believe that baptism removes original sin. Many (most?) other Christian style religions believe that Baptism is a SYMBOL of Christs death and is not in any way a salvation issue but instead a way to show that a person is publicly associating with Christ and being a Christian.
Az,
With all the publicity it should be fairly easy for you to find someone to make original art for you (in fact, contact me if you need some help with that) and then the only thing you need to do is get a "lemmingish" name.
They can not copyright game mechanics, only the art and code, and they can trademark the actual name.
At that point, with original art and a non-trademarked name you are free to actually sell this game (or give it away free)
@dangitman
There are more than 2 patents in the link I supplied, and it is suggested that there is a portfolio of many more. Also, there is commentary on how those patents are likely to be considered infringing. The facts I offer are in the linked article (written by lawyers who know quite a bit more about the issue than I)
There are links to the actual patents, which I would consider facts. Granted we all know patent disputes are very interpretive (and are not "proven" to be infringing until tested in court)
Perhaps "layman's terms" doesn't mean what you think it means...
I think anything with over 2 acronyms can no longer be considered a layman's description.
Both xbox and ps3 can use a keyboard, and the xbox has a "chatpad" which dock into the normal controller and works incredibly well. Also, the bulk of chat would most likely be audio, something consoles have working quite well.
Why not use a live boot of windows? Use something like BARTPE and remove the hard drive completely? BTW, I'll take a check (even a small one) if that fixes your problem.:)
I'd rather people just refuse to work there, market forces over legislation any day. Hopefully that would convince other employers to not ever try. If all else fails then legislate, lets not have our default action be government reliance.
DRM'd games can also be played as long as you have the silver account that purchased the game. So, for example: I can take my memory card (with account on it) to a friends house and play a game that account purchased, while at the same time my wife can play the same game on my console at home, since it is DRM'd to both.
One of the rationals of doing an external player was so that they could just make a blu-ray addon if HD-DVD didn't win.
The main difference is that blu-ray and the PS3 are intimately intertwined. However, the 360 is just a video game machine that you can buy an add-on movie player too. Very few people (that I know of) bought the 360 as a movie player, compared at least, to the apparent many that bought the PS3 for its movie ability.
So for all intent the HD-DVD addon, will suffer the same fate as a standalone player, and have little affect on the 360.
Sure you'll be able to find it under all that dust?

What I am hoping is that HP in an effort to BUY marketshare, puts out a $900 device for $400. They have the cash, and could make a HUGE dent.

I imagine that would work against "winning hearts and minds" and probably add to the "the USA hates us all, kill them."
You could get a pre which is an open linux box. Palm is actively supporting! homebrew and does not even require rooting to play with.

Mainly because Apple is violating tons of Palms patents and they don't want to wake that (IP) giant. http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/28/apple-vs-palm-the-in-depth-analysis/

Have you seen the new facebook UI? I can't find my own info!

without the sex? Then whats the point of having a locked door?
Probally because it would double the rendertime.

All those hard workers are content to just do it the long way.
Finally the boss button comes full circle!

Just a quick look seems like its a online only thing. Is there a "download" link I'm missing? Thanks
