Agreed. Haven't we learned from Enterprise and Star Wars episodes 1-3 that prequels suck.
Has there ever been a good prequel?
Can anyone name one?
I really hope someone talks them out of making a spin-off. Plus I don't care how good the show is, you don't make a spin-off from a show that only has 2 seasons under its belt.
By creating another one? The problem with it would be the same as it was with Enterprise. You know where everything has to go. I wouln't mind a series based on the Enterprise B or the Enterprise C, as long as they didn't feel the need to introduce some gimmicky temporal meddling to make "exciting" episodes.
The problem with Enterprise B is you've seen it's crew and the beginning of it's voyages. The problem with Enterprise C is you've seen it's crew and know it's fate.
What they need to do is create a new series that will be based sometime after the Dominion War. Not so far after that you run into more time travel and not to close so that you feel the need to keep characters from TNG, DS9, or Voyager. If you do have surviving characters they should be the Vulcans from those groups or maybe Odo.
What I'm trying to say is, Do something new for a change.
Humans do SEE Romulans until TOS. That doesn't mean they don't know about Romulans until TOS.
Humans never see what a Romulan looks like during any of the episodes of Enterprise.
Personally, I think the biggest problem that Enterprise faced was the same problem that the Star Wars prequels faced. You knew how it had to end. Sure Enterprise tried to avoid this with the temporal cold war, but even that was weak at best.
What they should have done was explore. That's it. Just make a bunch of episodes of the human race exploring the galaxy. They didn't need an overarching storyline to follow from episode to episode. Just explore.
They could have easily made a successful series out of that and still respected the established history of Star Terk.
Microsoft had the right plan from the beginning, sell cheap to get market share. They should have continued with this and made the Premium 360 $300. That would be well below what the PS3 is predicted to be priced at. And who says that you have to drop the console price at a certain point in it's life?
At that point it becomes a no brainer. There's no way that Sony can compete with that pricing plan.
The only thing that could pose a problem would be the HD-DVD vs Blue-Ray war. But since the upcoming HD-DVD drive for 360 is supposed to be an external and will be strictly for movies, so that shouldn't affect initial console sales.
What Microsoft should have done is take advantage of the year without the PS3. They should have had millions of units ready and priced them at $300 (premium).
Dave Long seems to think that just because I make more money than I did when I was in High school means that I'm willing to fork out more money for a 360. It doesn't work that way. I make more money now, but that doesn't mean I want to pay more money for systems and games. It should mean that I can afford to buy more games.
I agree that there is a good side to patents. The good side is that they make the invention public. Past that, patents are only benefitial to the patent holder and not society as a whole.
That's where the 5 year time period comes in. Imagine if you only had 5 years to improve the invention before your patent expired and everyone could use your design.
A 20 year patent period just encouraging laziness. Let's face it, most inventions make their money in the first 5 years. Call it a trend or a fade, whatever. It doesn't change the fact that if you don't change and improve the product within 5 years, people lose interest and move on to something else.
You may argue that things like cars and such don't operate on that schedule and I would point out that car models are updated yearly. Personally I think the auto industries priorites are a screwed up. Stop wasting time developing luxury features and start pouring money into engine design and fuel efficiency.
Actually in most places the rule is that if you are in the vehicle and the keys to the vehicle are within 50 feet of the vehicle they can charge you with DUI.
Although, from what I hear they are trying to change that due to people hurling their keys out the window to avoid the DUI.
It's simple folks, call someone or take a cab/bus/etc...

"Bullshit. Games like X-Wing and Tie Fighter were very, very good games and well received. Also Dark Forces, Dark Forces 2, Jedi Knight, etc. All excellent games."
But you have to admit that the Rogue Squadron series sucked ass. It was like piloting a ship through molasses.
If you want to download the stream, convert to mp3, and then play on your iPod/iTunes/whatever, check out this link [antville.org]. And Mac OS X users should look at this [macosxhints.com].
Or play it in iTunes and use Audio Highjack Pro to record it.

You apparently didn't see Riker in the last episode of Enterprise.
It would be like the difference between TOS Scotty and TMP Scotty.

Can someone explain to me why XP costs over $200?
You can get a 5 pack of the latest version of OS X for under $200.
Maybe when Microsoft finally releases Vista they should rethink their pricing model.

We already have a party that pillages and plunders.
They're called Republicans.
Three reasons. People, People and People.
I saw March of the Penguins and had to hear more narration from the guy behind me than from Morgan Freeman.
And why is it that parents can't get a babysitter anymore? V for Vendetta probably isn't the movie that is okay to haul the 4 year old to see.
I saw screw the theaters and release every movie directly to DVD. Make the theaters work for our money for a change.
I was okay with the singing, but when they changed the music under the singing to give it a more uptempo feel is when I became revolted.
My personal favorite:

Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat drinking beer all day.
just for you......
In Soviet Russia, PHP codes you.
and as a special bonus......
I for one welcome our new PHP overlords.
So the solution is, use common sense.
So I say "thank heavens I use Firefox and don't use Mail.app"
On a serious note, well sort of, do you think the next model will come with a built-in MP3 player that only plays Optimus Rhyme?
We just got an inch of snow. The only golf happening around here right now is Golden Tee.
Seriously, who still uses golf as an opportunity to "network"?

I was just wondering... How the hell many craft have we crashed into that poor planet?
It's no wonder the Martians want to kill us all.
I for one welcome our new chimpanzee overlords.

I saw a bumper sticker the day that said:
"What Would Jesus Bomb?"
Okay it's more than just some songs. 29 songs plus a bunch of other material AND a 128 MB flash drive. That easily makes it worth $30.
If you like the Barenaked Ladies, that is.
But you have to admit that the Rogue Squadron series sucked ass. It was like piloting a ship through molasses.
Oh I beg to differ my friend. I think this man might disagree with you.
Personally I think they benefits out weight the risks. ;)
