1) Two major players: Rogers (a.k.a Robbers) and Bell (a.k.a Dull)
2) Other smaller players with even worse service (Virgin, Fido, Telus etc.)
3) Cannot get a phone without a contract (pay as you go is 15 cents-25 cents per call for the first minute and then a little lower for the next used time)
4) Extra charges for receiving and sending SMS, as well as for having 911 and voice mail
5) Incoming call charges (I Wish I could find a Bell or Rogers executive, put him on a plane, and take him Pakistan where even the worst Telco does not charge for incoming calls, and then shoot him!)
Bottom line: Customer gouging and hardly any choice
I will personally pay $1000 to anyone who can prove that Holocaust Denial is part of Muslim belief. Please leave the proof here on Slashdot as part of this post and I will provide with further instructions

...does exactly what Windows does, everyday PC users will not be sold. This is a bitter fact (even more so when you tell a diehard Linux fan that he has to mimic Microsoft!) but this is the truth.
I have read quite a few responses in this thread and most of the people have complained about some common things lacking in Linux distirbutions: Fonts, Drag and Drop, lack of integration between Applications, and some of the stuff which PC users take for granted: WebCam working on your IM client, 3D hardware support etc. I agree with all of them since I have confronted the same problems, even on the most well-known distributions (SuSE, Fedora, Ubuntu). However the one best thing which the Linux Community/Open Source delivering companies can do (and again this is also suggested by someone else in one of the replies to this thread) is to set up a shop where people can walk in and play around with Linux loaded PCs. I think its a great idea that I can walk in an Apple store and tinker around with all the stuff they are offering; I do not know much about Apple computers but having spent sometime in their store has really got me sold for the iMac and the iPod. Overall, I would say that Linux has come a long way, but the road ahead is still longer! Best of luck to the Mighty Penguin!

I have the personal experience of having seen a Western Union booth display (under the counter, of course , where only the employees could see it) a piece of notice which said "Please ensure that you take driver's license number and phone number from anyone looking like to be of Middle Eastern descent and trasnfering more than $500".
I never went back to Wester Union. And,no, I am not an Arab
