You only quit after you have your next job lined up. Working at paying job you hate is better than sitting on the couch watching soap operas and not getting paid. Use vacation time to job search. Of course, I have never followed this advice but oh well...
I'm glad I don't buy Pizza where you do. Pizza is cheap. Domino's & Little Caesars (both large chains in the US) have $5 pizzas. The great drunk-food establishment, Canyon Pizza @ Penn State sells 2 larges for $10.
3 pizzas --- $15 is much less than $49.
Besides, as a student there is no way that I would waste $49 on PSE when that could get me three cases or a keg of Yuengling Lager
Bitch please... Fox News is ultra conservative (which is fine to be) but the problem is that they try to convince the audience that they are "fair and balanced" when they are anything but. Fox News is the epitomy of agenda driven corporate media theater masquerading as legitimate journalism... well them and Crossfire.
I'm no Apple-only fanboy (I use Windows, Linux, & Macs) but I'm really tired of the marketshare complaint. Porsche has very little marketshare too but no one says Porsche's outlook is poor because GM and Honda sell a gazillion cars a year.
I also recently switched from Windows to Mac because of software (mainly no viruses & spyrware) and hardware advantages. Now what I want to know is... does anybody ever switch to Windows? I never hear of people switching from Mac to Windows or Linux to Windows. Does this happen?
*** Not counting being forced to use Windows at work.
Stocks are split to allow the middle class continue to invest in the company. What middle class investor do you know that invests in Berkshire? Do you have Berkshire stock? I highly doubt it. Sure some companies misuse the purpose of splitting stock as a PR con job to hide the fact that they are the next Enron but you can't blame the act of splitting stock for lame business practices from even lamer companies. If IBM never split its stock, it would be worth $293488998923949.62**** a share but then who could afford to invest to Big Blue?
I wasn't disagreeing with what you said, I called you a dumbass because you stated the obvious. Do you think that Slashdotters aren't capable of basic mathematics?
Then use Knoppmyth if you can't figure it out. Knoppmyth installs and configures everything for you. The only problem I had was with my Hauppauge PVR250-MCE card. It was recognized as a version 1 card instead of a version 2. So I installed Knoppmyth, recompiled ivtv and BAM... MythTV!
No shit dumbass. But stock splits occur after the stock has gone up and is expected to go higher. Stock splits are just an indication of a healthy investment.
For over a year I've been thinking of how I should buy stock in Apple... A year ago it was going up and I thought they had a good short-term future prospect but I never got around to buying stock. Guess thats what happens when you're a poor college student. Dammit!
I love gnome and its my preferred gui... but why can't the default gnome have a little style? Get rid of the shitty screensavers, beef up the 1994 era icons, and throw in a few good wallpapers that aren't solid colors or a rainbow on crack like this one. I realize that graphics don't matter with regards to functionality... but dammit, a piss poor interface is just a lack of attention to detail.
My brother had a suite at Michigan State. His dorm room shared a bathroom with the dorm room next door. They always played pranks on each other. The weekend after spring break, my brother returned early... for his newest prank. He drove around campus and collected all the campus newspapers from the dorms. For hours on end, he crumped each page up into a ball and threw it across the bathroom into his neighbor's dorm room (thankfully, they forgot to lock the door which was typical). Hours later, he had completely filled the room with crumpled up newspaper. It was a sight to be seen (lucky for me, he had a digital camera).
I've used Sidetrack for over a year now. I love it. Now I can't stand using a Powerbook without it installed. You can also set up certain corners as specific buttons. For instance, I can set up the top left corner to act as a right-click button.
Yeah... Apple never gave it back to me. I had two problems. Crappy Crucial ram in the first place and Apple stealing my RAM by accident. The point of the story is that its funny... you know... never mind... humor is wasted on/.
I'll never buy Crucial ram for an Apple product again. I had such a fiasco. I got a stick of 512mb for my brand new powerbook g4 rev2 that they had verified would work with my machine. After a week or two of random kernel panics, freezing, and general suckiness, I called AppleCare because I wasn't sure if it was the PowerBook or Ram. Three days later, Apple had serviced my powerbook and returned with free overnight shipping both ways and found that faulty ram was the issue. Unfortunately, forgot to send me back the RAM they took out of the system. Meanwhile, I called Crucial to get a replacement for the busted ram. So now a second piece of ram was on its way and billed to my credit card until I returned the first. Two weeks later, Apple never found the ram and eventually shipped me a stick of Apple-Branded ram to replace the Ram they inadvertently stole. So I then had to beg and please Crucial to take back the second stick.
Come to think of it, I got a stick of Apple-branded ram for the price of a stick of shitty Crucial ram. Maybe I will buy from Crucial again.
Remote configuration is only if you aren't connected to the AP. Anybody can configure a router if they are connected to the LAN. I think Linksys uses 192.168.0.1 but if remote configuration is enabled, then you can log in through the IP that your ISP gives.
Sweet. Thanks for the heads up. I knew I needed an extended trip to Brazil and this gives me the reason. Could you please inform my professors that I won't be in class today and will miss the exams in my fluid flow and heat transfer classes? Thanks.
I completely agree. The systems need to be setup better by default. I even like your idea of using the serial number as the password, but this would still create problems. The consumer still has to know the serial number IS the password and that they need a password.
The WEP key is a giant pain in the ass. Whenever I have a fellow student over to do a class project or whatever, I have to add their MAC address and then key in the long WEP key. Lately, I'll just be lazy and just use my Powerbook's built-in internet sharing with an ethernet cable.
I get your point. I agree that my methods are not great, but does anybody have a better idea to help their neighbors?
By the way, my neighbors are fellow college students in a large apartment building, not little old ladies. More importantly, their internet was most likely being stolen by 10 other surrounding apartments who chose to steal their wireless internet access in order to buy an extra keg per month.
No, you're correct. I don't have the almighty right to do what I did. It is likely that I broke a law and lastly, I never said I was King, nor do I wish to be.
But, hacking their system and showing how vulnerable they are is not dictating how they should manage their network. I didn't force them to enable better security measures, they could have easily went back to their insecure method. What I did promote was to RTFM. Manufacturers will never provide systems that are secure out of the box. This would create an abundance of returned items that supposedly "don't work." The problem lies within consumers not reading the damn manual. Most consumers don't know that security measures are available and/or needed, let alone eager enough to read a paragraph or two in order to learn how to set them up. Therefore, my simple hack only prompted my neighbors to read a paragraph or two, whereupon they learned how insecure their situation was and decided by themselves to change.
I will agree that my methods are not rewardable but they got the job done. Ever try to tell your neighbor that their lawn looks like crap? Of course not, trying to tell them that their computer doesn't want correctly is even harder.
Dear IBM,
The "welcome" was very nice of you, but I sense a little deja vu here, do I not?
Sincerely,
Apple
P.S. Thanks for the IBM 970's (970 = G5) that kick ass!

Good point but come on, you know thats not what I meant by switching.

Maybe I should finally go buy stock instead of complaining.... anybody want to loan me some money that I won't pay back?
No shit dumbass. But stock splits occur after the stock has gone up and is expected to go higher. Stock splits are just an indication of a healthy investment.

So can I get a job when I graduate from Penn State in December? I say JoePa... you say 'terno... JoePa 'terno! JoePa 'terno!
No they did get the job done. Within a day they had a new SSID, password, and WEP.
