I work for TDS Telecom as tech support in Madison, WI.. for the record, TDS Telecom SUCK as an ISP, trust me on this one. TDS Metrocom isn't nearly as bad but twice as disfunctional.
Well then you would have to thin that the "other guys" have sucky marketing schemes -- If they create the accessories first then apple makes them and apple sells them, well, how do they do it? marketing? trust? that would also be a problem of the other companies, its not like apple brainwashes us into buying stuff directly from apple.
As someone else said, sometimes apple just makes it better.
Whether they have a monopoly or not, there stuff is damn good, imho of course. And if the other companies cant sell as well as apple, stop crying in your beer and deal with it.
OK, so apple created the ipod, they can create accessories if they want
If other companies are too slow to release new ipod accessories and apple beats them to it, well thats just too freakin bad for those other companies now isnt it?
Dont blame apple for keeping on top of the game, blame those smaller companies for slacking.
So, if OS X has a unix backend, whats the worst that could happen, a single user account gets hosed. I mean seriously, whats the big deal.
So someone downloads a virus, as long as theyre not running as root/admin then they can just del/readd user account... wow, problem solved, unless i missed something here?
seeing there are rumours that the PS3 is going to be using IBM's new Cell processor.
"At a demonstration yesterday in New York, IBM showed off Cell's processing power with a geology application that would have been right at home in a video game. A computer rendering of Mount Rainier, created using satellite photos and geological maps, allowed an operator to make a simulated flight over and next to the mountain.London Free Press
With graphics rendering like that, there should be some wicked games (or interactive pr0n movies). Though I still like the feel of a keyboard and mouse. Maybe someone would be nice enough to make an interface for PC gamers like me? 0:)
how they can finally develop something that can mimic something that was un-mimicable. unless i read it wrong, but how is it possible? the hiv/aids virus keeps changing but if we finally found something that is a key component to each change, why havnt we figured this out before?
True true, i see the point there. But i had no intentions of meaning that people arent people and they could be used for play things.
"You are not free to post whatever kinds of ads you like, nor are you free to treat other human beings however you see fit. Even employees and job applicants are human beings."
Now i dont see anyone anywhere saying anything about that, nor did I say that eithor. The new laws are more restrictive limiting who can possibly apply for a job. Some people may not have the job skills but have the ability or will to learn, and such an employer could see that by looking at a resume or talking to someone.
Ive yet to see an online poster violate human rights by specifying what they are looking for in an employee and skillset. Hell, i fall into 3 minority catagories and ive never had a problem myself.
"If you want to treat people like your personal play things..."
Whatever you are on, get off, its not working.
"Perhaps these new rules will prevent companies from advertising necessary qualifications which go far beyond the actual qualifications they anticipate anyone will actually have. Putting false requirements on a job posting is merely a means to oppress new employees.."
Well, for the most part i agree, but ive also yet to come acrossed anything where an employer lists required qualifications that are not eithor currently required or needed in the future. Its called planning for the future of the company and making sure someone can grow with them.
"Putting false requirements on a job posting is merely a means to oppress new employees, by lying to them and making them think they only have a job because of charity rather than their bona fide merit."
Umm, welcome to earth. Lying about qualifications does help filter out posers for one, but is truely false advertising (imho). And if an employer has more qualifications than the employee has but they still get hired, well, thats the employers fault.
You should follow our own signature. If you use facts, get your head out of your ass and join the rest of us above ground.
I can see how that can be true, but how many people actually fully fit what the employer is looking for? To get a more "diverse" grouping of people, one would NOT want to be quite as specific. So in a sense, it is almost contradictory to be resctictive and trying to be diverse.
So in order to get a more diverse and random selection of applicants, we're going to shrink the qualified applicant pool by making it more difficult to apply for a job?
So, more poor people without jobs are going to have an even more difficult time trying to get a job? Way to go bush...
I mean, seriously, its like none of their freakin business. Doesnt this help kill 'free enterprise' or deminish capitalism? This is like communist USSR here.
It is our place and decision to run online employment boards how we see fit and put up descriptions of our jobs and post our skills to our own likings. We are free to find the people who we think may be good at the job by looking at their resume
Plus, what the crap, if I "apply" for a job online they look at my resume and they talk to me, they setup and interview. Now if some @#*(%& employer hires an employee purely based off what is said of a bleeding website then they deserve a crappy employee.
on the telly about automated driving, but this was differed, iirc. what i saw was cars that drove via "magnets" or something stuck in the road at specific intervals and set it in certain directions. the polarizations of the magnets told the car when a turn was near then the cars "communicated" with each other view RF (like speed, direction, etc). i blieve testing for this was in California but im not positive.
somethingl like that would be good and seems great and realatively inexpensive. i dont know how honda has the cars identify the roads or directions, but maybe they could merge the 2 ideas?
Im not saying its going to hurt them or anything, but come one, theyre trying to play a game, not have to worry about homosexuality or anything like that.
ugh. im horrable expressing myself, but i just dont think "controversial" topics like that belong in a fun game for all ages. I dont see Big Bird asking Cookie Monster if he likes it up, well, you get the idea:P
i willingly admit that im guy and i would actually have to agree with blizzard on this particular topic. normally i would say "omg-wtf-wwjd" and etc but these games are geared toward youngsters too! i do not believe that youth should be subject to that kind of discussion. especially politics, religion, or even sexual orientation.
Now, if this was an adult only forum or chat for recruiting then i would say "guild peeps, go for it!" but if there are kids around i would do what is neccessary to protect their interests.
and for the record, im 20 years old, so im not far from one of those youths.
they should ONLY IF there is a specific need. Like the company I work for (TDS Telecom) doesnt have (many) people accessing it from a PDA or mobile so there would be no need, just wait until you get home to your compy 386 or lappy 486.
On the other hand, my little "company" would make use of something like that for server stats. I can design some wasteful bandwidth loathing website that lists all my stats or something small, quick, and to the point for my mobile or my pda. That could be useful.
Yea, but close enough -- if you dont need it, dont bother. If you do, then do it or shut your corn hole.
Mmm, corn..
when it comes to child pr0n, it doesnt matter in my book. when something like that is downloaded anything the person viewing should have that rights taken away and beaten senseless.
sure the courts decision was totally bogus and normally i would be all for helping the dude. but not in this case, the guy is getting what he deserves (or maybe not). he should be put away for some time whether the court spazzed out or not.
The Russians know how to deal with problems. You piss off the wrong person they just through you out of space station. In America, you get thrown in a deluxe flat with meals and a gym and a telly.
What am I missing here?
I just hope the poor bastard in the suit brought the extra TP, its ganna be a long trip.
Also, will having left here after a year seem like a real black mark on my resume?
Well, it will if you tell the new employers that you left because you couldnt handle the pressure. Its best to make up something more light and fluffy.
Me for example left a position after 3 months because it sucked ass. So i put in my 2 wks notice and for a reason i put "conflict of interest". Well, it was kinda that too. The boss's wife kept coming in and giving me back rubs while im trying to program (it was a small place). This would have been ok but she was older than my grandma and i was bearly 18.

B-)
i smell a conspiracy...
oh, wait a minute...
