I should own it. be it a phone, a console, a car...
If I choose to put a 5.0 cammer engine in the car *I bought* and forego the warranty, It's my choice. I won't go to prison for it. (oops, already did it in my friend's 2k4 Marauder, added a supercharger too, so guess I'll go to prison for life now...)
When I buy it it's mine to do whatever the fuck I want with it... If I want to set it on fire with thermite, jailbreak it, or else...
It was called an eeePC about 4 years ago... I've got one running OS X Snow Leopard. a 250$ Acer One is about the same machine today.
I remember Stevie God dissing netbooks not so long ago. So, that new Jesus machine looks, weighs and feels like a Netbook. And WHY THE FSCKING GLOSSY SCREENS???
With a good turntable & needle, Vinyl will blow most 4-track compact cassettes out of the water. TDK SA and SA-X Type ][ tapes will be *very* good though, and MA-GX type IV tapes are even better.
My first *real* setup was a late '70s high-end DUAL with a Shure V15 type IV MicroRidge cartridge (bought in 1988). No hum that I could hear, minimal static, and since I take care of my vinyls, no skipping.
I still have that cartridge, but with a standard Midrange belt-driven turntable for the moment, waiting for a deal on a Transcriptor Skeleton turntable (http://www.the-adam.com/adam/loci-4tn/vestigal.htm) like one of my friends is currently using on a really good (lower high-end) system (Atoll class-A pre-amp, multiple Atoll class-A amps and Pierre-Etienne Leon speakers). Looks really nice too. I'm pretty sure I could hear sounds I've never heard on my setup before:)
Even a Technics SL-1200 would be a really good choice, but not as nice looking as the Transcriptor:)
I'd rather lose some dynamic range than listening to overdriven, all meters in the red, distorted & clipping CD anytime.
Besides, Vinyl on an all analog tube amp has a warm sound no modern system can match (IMHO)...
Still, we shouldn't have to take our cars to a mechanic for something as trivial as changing plugs or doing an oil change. We're not talking about dropping a transmission...
But in a Camaro we're talking about an FR layout with front-facing V8 inside a gigantic engine bay. The plugs should be easily accessible (just as they were in my Grand Marquis and my friend's Marauder).
Meaning they should be on top of the cylinder heads and easily accessible.
And people are wondering why GM almost went under...
Changing *all* plugs shouldn't take more than 5 minutes on a modern engine. Besides, you don't change plugs on a modern engine until at least 60,000 miles.
What about a phone call? My ISP does this. Granted, it only has about 1.5 million customers. The way it goes is first, a phone call, if they are unable to talk to the person, they disable the modem until they call back. They only do this for large botnets, unless they receive a complaint about an IP.
But it *IS* effective.
Overlays and emails will only teach people to click on fake antivirus warnings, like you said...
1- you have to disable Sound acceleration (otherwise it's all skippy) 2- Mouse acceleration is somewhat broken (really really slow mouse) 3- It *WILL* crash to the desktop.
*If I had a nickel for every condom that broke on me, I could buy myself another pack of Condoms.*
What is really frightening is that dollar stores are selling them where I live, and you can even buy them from Dealextreme.
I wouldn't trust my junk with a condom from a dollar store or from Dealextreme (or any internet store), but If they are selling them, it means people are buying and *USING* them.
1- Han shot first, not after, not at the same time. First as in *I'm a smuggler and a tough guy* 2- Remove Jar-Jar 3- Remove midi chlorians 4- remove Darth Vader's *NOOOOOOOOO* at the end of ROTS 5- remove the walkie-talkies and put back the guns (sorry, wrong movie:)
In TFA, they mention the first version created interference on TVs, so they were RF, kinda like the Summasketch tablets used for AutoCAD in the late '80s/early '90s (you could see the coil in the *mouse*)
Around 15 years ago I had a 7-band digital car equalizer/booster in my overclocked full-tower 486 (AMD 5x86 @160Mhz, 4*40, very nice CPU)
It was *almost* a perfect fit, only had to dremel the case and the amp a little. It was powered from a MOLEX connector (using an homemade choke to filter out unwanted spikes and whine) then hooked up to the sound card and a set of 4 4ohm loudspeakers (no surround, just stereo though). At 120W RMS it kinda killed the original power supply while playing an intense mission in Tie Fighter:(
(It was a half-din Radio-Crap digital EQ/amp, I think I might still have it somewhere in my locker)
My modified 11W CB could probably be fitted in a 5.25 bay too, I just wouldn't know where to put my 102" whip antenna, I could ask my landlord If I could put it on the roof with a ground plate:p
But, it might be a fun project for the week-end, I have an old InWin Q500 full-tower lying here doing nothing, and I'm pretty sure I still have my old Blaupunkt head-unit too (tape, Montreal model IIRC)
Besides, I'm always looking for new excuses to use my Dremel:p
Tape deck, EQ, and CB would take 3 bays, CD/DVD-ROM would take another, and I still would have one to spare (card reader or drive caddy)
Great. Now, can they enable the same features on the magic mouse without needing a third party driver? (Magicprefs). The magic mouse can register as much as 12 points if my memory serves me right, but they only natively enable 2-3 finger scrolling and swipes, not pinching and the other cool stuff. no, instead they just link to the third party app.
One of the reasons I've always liked B5... Starfuries use newtonian physics in combat.
Kinda cool that NASA asked JMS permission to use that design (was granted as long as they keep the Starfury name)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfury#Real_world_interest
Strange, as on my main machine, it always act the same (XP/Leopard/Kubuntu) ON=LED ON OFF=LED OFF
There's a little LED on most webcams that lights up when it's in use.
I should own it. be it a phone, a console, a car...

I'll keep my 900HA thank you...

Is why I write all my emails in Wingdings...
Everytime I flush I'm creating a new universe, and it's gonna be a crappy one...

"if your replacement hard drive is SATA, installing Windows XP requires either A. a floppy drive or B. access to a friend's PC"
or C- a machine with native SATA (I don't need the floppy to install on my desktop, and my eeePC doesn't even have a floppy)
I still have 88 years to invent warp drive :)
You sir owe me a new pair of eyes...
ST: Armada is one that won't run properly in XP.
1- you have to disable Sound acceleration (otherwise it's all skippy)
2- Mouse acceleration is somewhat broken (really really slow mouse)
3- It *WILL* crash to the desktop.
Tried running ST: Armada in 98SE (under Virtualbox), and it won't work properly either. So, I'm keeping an old machine for 98SE and DOS
-Pentium ][ sticker on C64
-Designed for Windows XP on my old cell phone
Now if only registrars did the same when selling domain names...

Yup a SSD BigFoot :)
