Interesting. Perhaps someday OS X will catch up with Synaptic (based on apt) package manager for Linux, where all you have to do is click a checkbox for the program you want, and click "Apply".
And maybe someday Synaptic's database will be up-to-date and complete.
Yes, mine had this problem, but only when the system was plugged into the wall. Open up Energy Saver and try setting processor speed to automatic instead of highest.
There's tons of literature on the subject, and probably ready-made systems, too. If you want to do something super-hardcore, build it into a computer power supply without using an inverter.
The alternative does not require changing Freenet. The alternative is to say in the FAQ when asked about child porn and terrorist plans something like this: "We cannot allow filtering Freenet nodes without compromising anonymity, which is our number one priority. Sorry, but if you don't like it, don't run a Freenet node." instead of "Oh, I thought you supported free speech. If you are not actively distributing content you find completely disgusting, the production or use of which may (have) result(ed) in death, destruction, rape, and who knows what else, you're a hypocritical censor."
See, the wonderful thing about such loaded language is that even if you tolerate the existence such content, by using Freenet you are being FORCED to distribute it. Isn't that lovely? And if you complain, the powers-that-be make YOU the bad guy!
I can't believe people are modding you up for this.
The Linux kernel is monolithic. Linux modules do not run in user-mode. They are loaded into the kernel proper.
mkLinux was an Apple-sponsored effort to run Linux on Mach. The Linux kernel was modified to run in user-mode; it basically became an executable. In fact, you could run multiple instances of the same kernel (or different kernels) simultaneously.
The only reason I ever knew about them was a cheapie college course on engineering ethics and professional practice. I bet you would need to sign it for a PE certificate.
On their development machines.
we can get high enough to meet his god! :)
it's not space travel that will get people high enough to meet bush's god.
every analogy limps.
this one has no legs at all!
Yup, sounds about as exciting.
This is intuitive how, exactly?
I like his slam on qmail. Does djb ever address such concerns?
The submitter is the author of the linked article. Who the hell moderated this informative?
I can't think of the last thing that wasn't in Debian that I wanted to install. Sorry, try again.
You haven't tried to get Java running on Ubuntu, have you?

This is something very new. I flew to California in December and that regulation was not in force then.
This has the effect of increasing camaraderie among smokers in the smoking areas past the security checkpoint. Nobody has a light!
Maybe a dual-processor system: one PowerPC and one Intel? Not likely, I grant you.
That's been done with a 68K mac. Look up the Nutek Duet.
There is a language called OOSQL, but looking at it makes me squirm.
Well, that answers the age-old question: what do end-users need 4 GHz processors for?
Indeed, just like intelligent design is referred to as "science".

And that is the correct response to the question the Freenet FAQ pretends to answer.
Refusal to redistribute isn't censorship. If I don't distribute content I find objectionable, that does not stop others from doing the same.
Of course, there's next to no way of knowing what is passing through your system, but the reply from the Freenet admins is arrogant and misguided.

Monolithic translates to no modules, correct?

Hey, if there's a market for the DivaCup...

Even more codes of ethics!
Next time your laptop battery runs out, you get to replace the entire laptop.
It wasn't backwards compatible to the SNES.
