You mean loss. Not lose. Just like most people mean lose not loose. This whole cluster of words seems to present a particular problem to a great many people. I have no idea why. Perhaps the government should take action.

This isn't intended as a personal slur (I agree with what you wrote), but you your new twist on the whole loose/lose issue really made me splutter... :-)

As I alluded to in the post above, "hospitable" is an entirely subjective term. I find bracing autumn days to be most pleasant; the average Iguana will likely have the opposite opinion.

Yes, yes, yes. There are organisms that can live in conditions that we would consider shitty. However, these same organisms would likely perish in environments that we consider balmy.

It's not whether the environment is good or bad. It's whether it is different.

As a customer of the Cancer Testing Machine Corp., the very same company that recently moved it's software to an open source model in an attempt to garner insight and feedback from the cancer testing research community, I would have to say that I would almost certainly not download J0e D00d's patched modification of said software and would certainly continue as a customer of the CTMC. I understand that it's their software, they are the experts in its use and that they have total control over their version of it. They may have accepted modifications to it from outsiders, but I trust that they will have tested these modifications with the same strict method that I hope they use with internally produced design changes.

I would feel a tad uncomfortable making any such presumptions with regards to the quality of J0e's code.

Indeed, as a large medical interest, it is with my arse tightly clamped shut by the fear of legal repercussions that I ensure that I purchase the machinery, software and it's licence from those most suited to provide it.

It's not just about the code.

What an ass. I mean me, of course. Beer + slashdot = nonsense.

I quite agree that the burden of proof is upon the accuser. Now that my mind is a little less hazy, I can happily agree - I have not seen nor can I find any evidence to suggest that GM seeds have been "foisted" on Iraqi farmers.

However, I would not be shocked if such evidence was placed before me.

OK. Since you're going to take a stance on lack of evidence, I think I'll join you: Can you prove that it's not the situation?

Call me cynical, but I've lived long enough to have a strong distrust in everything involving someone, somewhere, getting rich. Therefore, I'm going to side with the anti- camp, at least till you can prove me wrong (a solid instance of IP-owning magnanimity, that'd be nice). You take your side; I'll take mine. We're about square on the balance-of-evidence, wouldn't you say?

Well, yes, that's because Catholicism is a subset of Christianity. Christianity is based around a belief in the New Testament and the teachings of Jesus. Catholicism is simply a methodology for expressing that belief, as is Anglicism, Mormonism, Pentecostalism etc.
