I don't think it's actually possible to save Cid. Also, they're not related, but she calls him Grandpa occasionally.
Still, as cheesy as it was at times, I can't think of a game that moved me as much as FFVI. I always rank it as one of my favorite games of all time.
You'd be right if you weren't talking about something completely different than your parent. He was talking about an average user setup, and you talk about servers. There are differences. Servers don't often have to deal with a user who doesn't necessarily know what he's doing.
How are they going to yank them off the internet and onto some crappy dull cable station about current events, where Al Gore is deciding what bling is fly?
In case you didn't bother to RTFA:
Why do Gore, who's 57, and Hyatt, 54, think they know what people in their 20s want to watch? That's not really their job, they say; those decisions will be left to younger people.
This post summarises something I see too often (not much, but too often), especially here. It goes something like this:
"I need [feature] before I can use [product at hand]."
"Why? I don't need/want it. [Product at hand] is just fine without [feature]."
"I know. I just need [feature]."
"F*** you. I don't need/want it, so you shouldn't either."
Some guy just comments on how he needs address book sync, and he gets flamed by fanboys for not loving the product as it is.
I'm willing to pay for something if I have to, but when there's a free product that does something well enough for my purposes, why spend the money? It's smart consumerism, from my point of view.
Plus, there's small things that Google does right. Like going to the inbox instead of the "next" message when I delete the current message. When reading in Chronological order with the messages in reverse, it's nice not to have to look at a message I've already read a dozen times.
I only wish the 'delete' option was a button rather than in the drop-down menu. Just because I CAN keep it doesn't mean I WANT to do so.
Honestly, I didn't know how bad it was back then. It never gave me any trouble (that I know of). And it WAS on purpose. I looked and said "ooh." It seemed useful. Search multiple sites AND get toolbar buttons. I would have been kinda upset if you'd gotten rid of it without asking. Back then I wasn't all that knowledgable about internet-related stuff.
So, if you see the Yahoo toolbar at all, you assume it was put there inadvertently? What if they actually use it heavily? That'd mean you just lost all their bookmarks (maybe not...I've never used it). I'm glad you never touched my computer. Before I discovered Firefox I used the "MySearch" bar (or whatever it's called) extensively. I had quite a few bookmarks in it and I would've been quite upset if you had deleted it.
And just to continue the gp (for fun):
Remove their Photoshop and replace it with the Gimp. It's Open Source.
I'm confident I could. I could just as easily buy it, I would think. On the other hand, I probably don't have the time right now to justify starting to play yet another game, let alone buying one. I'll keep a link to remind me in the future, though.

And I thought I was ambitious learning D'ni.

Notice he said "was" proprietary. It seems to me that the status of GIF has changed since then.
I'm waiting for a show based off Monopoly.
I think of it as more of a process: 1. Joke 2. Punchline 3. ????? 4. Profit!
HOLY FUCK WAS THAT CATCHY.
Get perpendiculaaaar!
NO! It won't go away!
Humor, my friend, humor. I personally think the "Gore invented the internets" thing quite funny, even though I realize he didn't say that.
Let me better qualify that. Much of the populace is still blah blah blah.
Management-speak, eh? So he said it without saying it?
Any /. article where both Futurama and VGCats can be referenced is a good article.
From what I've read/heard/seen, most of the populace is still relatively uneducated in regards to politics.

"We're the suits," Gore said with a laugh.
Now, whether you believe Gore, I don't know.
I find it humorously ironic that the parent was modded Insightful.
I can see it now... "Chief! He's stopping to switch cars!" "Good. Stop him while he's swapping the tagged tires!"

Too bad there's no yahoo.us :(
I believe that was a joke, albeit the deivery could've used some work.
Most soldiers who play Dungeons and Dragons simply do not admit to it while they are in teh [sic] army, he says.
I wonder what they do to those who say "teh" in proper speech. : )
Actually being allowed to play with $50,000 of lasers and optical equipment: priceless.
