I tried several times to complain that one of the major problems with linux is the lack of a installer. Yes is RPM and such but there is not an installer that is easy (I am programmer so./configure is easy, try this with a regular user!)

your code that runs in 2.6 will not run in 2.4
or KDE 3.x will not run in 3.x (no warranty about it will execute)
So the solution is to create an ABI layer which can emulate older versions (or newer if needed)
so the code will run without modifications
The problem is that the ideas where developed during the time you where working for the company which means that if you have a great idea and work even five minutes at work on your IDEA and you idea makes money the company can sue you because was done as part of your job (I know it sucks Welcome to America)

5) Installers: Something so basic for a GUI do not exists for Linux (yes they are about 2000 of them, nothing works, if you do not believe me, see the Reviews for the Nvidia Driver installer)
Problem with Linux GUI is that is fragmented into multiple camps, everyone has wonderful ideas and implementations, but they never are complete.
Something people need to realize is that to produce a game today it requires about 100 people, is really expensive to create a new game, the design and development of new games are copies of games that sold well, what this mean is that game makers do not want to take any risks.
So will be another hurdle to solve when developing a game: Investors, publishers and Microsoft.
So now, Microsoft controls the games.

People out of school had the ideas (yes after all the drunken parties and chasing the girls, they still manage to get ideas). Therefore, if you need to compete with somebody that will charge 5 bucks an hour, but you need to charge 50 how you can compete with that?
So currently, there are plenty of engineers and programmers, but not in the future. Why I want to go to school, put myself in a 60,000+ hole and cannot found a job? If I find a job will not pay enough to pay for college plus expenses, so will think about my career path and will not chose IT.
When questioning corporations about the education that students receive they always said that the education system needs to be improved and that is woefully under prepared (TRANSLATION FROM BUSINESLINGO: WE want technical managers, we have plenty of programmers around the world)
In addition, before forget: American corporations have a heavy fix expenses. For example: HP fiorina, the estimations of how much money she drained from the company was around 500M, so if the company has President, CTO,CFO, etc and they make 50% that the president makes, sum all the personnel bellow the president and you will see part of the problem)
Installed the tool, and except for downtown Boston, I can not see where I was in the map, street names shows for a second the nothing, and see where you are from looking at a building is hard.
So I do not see something too fancy (try NASA)
