    No that's different because the CBO projected costs were based on actual math versus the fuzzy math used by this climate report. While I agree that catastrophic climate change would devastate the world economy, the real all time low here is calling this science.

    "no convincing alternative explanation" for the changing climate other than "human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse gases."

    Really? Well I'll be a monkey's uncle...the whole of nature pales in comparison to the power of what amounts to some smart ants.

  8. The amazing advances in technology that have come with figuring out how to make a phone that thin yet powerful far outweigh my need for slightly longer battery life. They can keep on doing what they are doing until it's no longer making productive advancements in technology..then and only then would I want any major player to stop and say "Hey, this is good enough, let's focus on making battery life better by sacrificing size"

    sales say yes. granted they may not have an equivalent choice that has a higher battery life with thicker phone (equivalent meaning an iPhone XS or Galaxy S9). But people buying millions and millions of a product will generally trump any theoretical market...at least until someone is brave enough to break out of the mold.

  12. Or don't make major design changes based on this reviewer's anecdotes. My phone lasts all day if I'm not on it constantly and for several hours even under heavy use. This whole article lost me when it says the problem with batteries is that we can't put our phones down. What does that have to do with newer phones having shorter battery life? The article write/reviewer is a moron.

    I'm just saying even in the summary they figured it was deer causing it. The results of the study showed that was true. My comment is on the discrepancy between "They suspected elk, cattle, and most prominently deer were eating the new shoots" and "The results were surprising".

    I'm sorry but I agree with this being a concern of free speech. There are many organizations (Political Action Councils?) that do just this. When was the last time you saw a mud slinging commercial about a candidate and how horrible they are for doing X Y or Z. Or how Prop ABC is wrong for your state because it will destroy everything you hold dear? Not that I like any of that content, but I will die defending the right of people to push it.

    Because that was the way to make the headline sound like a bigger deal than it really is. When the two companies involved have tens of thousands of employees, one company having hired 46 of the other's former employees is both insignificant and boring. It's not news for employees in one big high tech company to move on to another one.

    I'm not saying it isn't a standard for a reason...it's just not that big a standard to live up to. None of the other standards are particular exacting either. They have standards, period. It would be an exacting standard to require them to hop on one foot for the entire delivery...or have the amazon logo tattooed on their face...
