Your opinion doesn't make it true, just like Mormons' opinion that they're not batshit crazy doesn't make it true. Use of trite name calling, vulgar or otherwise is a poor excuse for actually providing meaningful evidence that something is true, and in fact is commonly the argument of choice for actual fucking morons.
It's entirely possible that nothing can be done. What if near-cataclysmic climate change happens just because the natural flow of things means that it happens?
Yes, but the fervor of QR Codes that has unfortunately gripped the mobile engagement world assumes a LOT about what QR Codes will do. So yes, if someone knew that a bank had a currency QR Code scanner with an exploitable flaw, they could cause some amount of trouble. But this article is so riddled with a complete misunderstanding of all technologies that would be involved that I barely have the will to finish posting this response.
Just to point out, US of A has a population of 311 million. 19 million is about 6% of that. Which means 94% of US population does have access to broadband. Seems like that would have been some useful math for you to do prior to touting your country's amazing 80%. Though I do agree that 80% coverage in Iceland is not too shabby.
Also, you're right, someone working a minimum wage job does deserve health care just as much as a millionaire. However, that's because both of them deserve to pay for it just like any other service. You have a right to housing in just the same way. You get what you pay for. Food same thing. If you want free food and housing, there are some LIMITED options, but they're not going to be very nice. Likewise with free healthcare.
So you're not getting paid by some company to do that research? If not, great for you, that is your choice. You get to decide whether you require payment/trade for your work. Do you really think we'd have anywhere near the technology we have today to even be having this discussion how we're having it if only supposedly altruistic societal needs were the driver? Nope. You wouldn't see someone in frontier-land in the 1700s complaining that they don't have universal health care.
"Scientists don't get paid a whole lot" is such a red herring. Scientists get paid what someone will pay them. If they feel that's worth their time, they'll do it. If the entity that is paying them feels they are worth that money, they'll pay them. What goes into a doctor's pay scale is based on many things. What goes into the bill that you get from the hospital includes at some level all the cost that went into building the facility and equipment in addition to the labor. Doctors COULD donate their time, but that would only be part of it. In fact, MANY doctors do donate their time. Some do that at the cost of worse living conditions than a minimum wage worker can afford. But that is just that person donating their time, not the medicine, not any other thing associated with that care.
Why can't I pull up to a gas pump and fill up for free? Why can't I go the the premier of Anchorman 2 in Los Angelas by hopping on a free plane and going in the theather grab some free popcorn and soda and avoid the ticket line all together? Sure, you may argue that entertainment isn't a vital human need. But I sure as heck need gas to get to my job. Otherwise...what would I do????? Oh I would have to get a job within my means for doing that job? Maybe take a bus? Work closer to home at a job I don't like as much?
What does it mean "at least as long ast he country can afford it"?
You do NOT have the right to the use of a multi-million dollar facility/equipment. I would love to know what part of someone paying for med school, paying for dr. salaries, etc...is YOUR right to make use of for free.
It is tough to find a good response for this point of view on slashdot. Most of the brains appear to be stuck in the proverbial parent's basement even if the body isn't.
What is included on icrc.org is enough in my book. The DM article really doesn't add much else and certainly doesn't attribute any other actions to Red Cross. However it actually does seem to be trying to say that their efforts are really related to violence in video games and what the negative impacts on global society are, versus saying they may actually try to prosecute CoD players for war crimes. The whole "surrender bar" thing at the beginning is just stupid though...you CAN quit the game it's not like you're computer will explode if you exit...i mean if that was the case ragequitting would be far more interesting.
It was pretty deep within this thread, but it was found and approved of. It's funny that a game of such simple design is popular enough to have that well known a "flaw".
actually the IDEAL situation is to balance speed with coverage. Just because a whack-a-mole game assumes you have one hammer, doesn't mean it wouldn't be most effective to have a hammer for every hole that hit simultaneously so that you can spam-slam and win. I don't think what I'm saying is at all pro or anti government, but I'll gladly take one side or the other.
Maybe I'm missing something, but most of the outrage I see on the original story's comments is about the idea that you get pulled over for speeding and they'll go through your cell phone. It reads to me like as part of arrest processing instead. Which means if you are just getting a warning or a traffic ticket this doesn't apply. Initially I thought it was going to be a story about how an officer looked at a phone's history to see if the person was texting while driving, but this I don't think that is it. If something is in your car when you get arrested, it's part of a natural search area. If there was a locked safe in the trunk, they'd be opening that too. Why is cell phone more important than a safe?
But what does the NDA say about disclosing the details of the NDA? HMM? jk
In reality, I have nothing to do with Bioware, the beta or this game at all. Though I will be happy to hear what it is like once those details are made public.
Thank you for using a name that is nearly identical to the one you used to enter the beta. You will no longer need to spend any time downloading the game as your beta pass has been revoked for reasons that should be entirely obvious to you at this point.
Came to the comments for this story knowing that the topic would be turned into a debate about "income gaps" and "fair share taxes". This is actually a great example of how flat rate pay for use "tax" works. 30% flat tax rate (no deductions, credits, etc...) for EVERYONE though would probably sink the U.S. in less than a year though.
It is not surprising to me at all that their are so many numbnuts on here that think it makes sense to forcibly remove EARNED income from self-made successful people to subsidize those who pretend like their doing the same thing but clearly just not being recognized for it.

It must be tough to go outside where colors can "clash" all the time.

If you suddenly had to pay for every bit you used like you do with power and water, I bet you'd long for the days of fixed fee with caps/throttling.
And just like taxes, they would then make sure their annual income was 0 by the books.

Even better than that, it's skewed to those who are on facebook. So you add those two things and we're back to 6 degrees. Dumbass story
I think it's Mach 6 when it's firing against the earth's rotation. That seems pretty solid right?

I cannot confirm or deny that.
It's something that EA is giving out 3-day passes to for beta testing. It consists of a 10GB download and contains quests.
So because someone passes on their wealth to their children, someone who doesn't work should get part of that? Sorry, no good.

beta
Actually depending on the circumstances when they're stealing from you, you can shoot them.
