Are you seriously grumbling that they picked one submission of the same story over yours? They actually warn you in the FAQ that this will get you modded down. Just because you submitted before it was posted to the front page doesn't mean you were the first to submit it. It doesn't mean you weren't, but most importantly it doesn't mean you were.

Bad news?? We might actually see a standards compliant plug-in out of this that actually has a good development environment to go along with it. Adobe certainly will be inserting their SVG magic into the Macromedia environment. Plus think of all the integration possibilities with Adobe/Macromedia products.
I personally think this is at LEAST *promising* news!
Don't worry about the relative ground level of your state/area. I've seen that guy post before and he's just bitter about his own flat life so he takes it out on other people.
I'm prepared to be wrong. I'm a software developer, and I've learned that as a consultant I can say, "Your project is doomed" with 95% accuracy before I've even heard your name. Being a nay-sayer is easy. But the real trick is being able to spot the 5% that will actually be profitable, and there are a lot of projects more immediately deserving of this kind of money
So what you're saying is, 95% of the time you get involved in a project...it fails. I guess that would make me prepared to be wrong too! teehee!
It seems to be missing some reference links or something useful to verify what the author is stating.
I'd like to see the whitelist for a particular model and maybe some sort of comment from HP about why before I say anything about such a list.
Sure, HP has had trouble with compatibility before, and if this whitelist is really that restrictive, then it's a really bad thing. But I find nothing in this article that proves such.
I've always felt that there is a similar slant on technology debate as with political debate. However, we (/.ers) are to processor choice as a senior political analyst is to a presedential choice. Throw all the charts and graphs at us that you want, we know how to interpret the real numbers and what they mean.
So yes, the uninformed public may start thinking, hmmm AMD sounds like a good choice if these guys say it performed well, but in all likelihood they will just go with whatever the sales rep tells them will fill their needs.
I guess the real question is....who is the NO SPIN for technology?
Capitalism can work if the big boys are greedy enough to turn on each other!
Unfortunately, someone is going to try to do this to Microsoft and when the dust settles, Bill Gates will still be there smiling.
You'd think the 5 major countries that use the most oil could form a bargaining voice powerful enough to counter OPEC in this same way....speaking of dangerous challenges.
Sure, any automated response can be called AI, but this doesn't impress me.
If all an AI module can do is make objective suggestions, it's nothing more than a list of conditional statements. Whoopideedoo!
I can run similar "AI" on my TI-85. And I could write it all from scratch in the time it takes for a launch vehicle to reach the stratosphere.
The web servers of 10 years ago could "suggest" that an "Object may have moved", so is that artificial intelligence? I guess it's really, really dumb AI....
When was the last time an invention just outright killed its less advanced or less cool predecessor?
Remember the floppy drive? CD and Dvd and digital media were supposed to kill it, but it has been "dying" for years now. These things take time!
Yes, 50 years from now existing PBX will be but a fond memory to most of us. But it won't happen overnight. The same way a car's look evolves, so does the technology. This is both because people like familiar things, but also because companies like to eek out all potential profitability from every idea and product before moving on to the next thing.
It's just not profitable to "kill" a widely used technology like that.
You have moles too? I have this mole in my front yard that just won't go away. It sure makes it tough to maintain a good lawn. I also have several moles strategically placed on my epidermis. Though neither have prevented me from playing vigilante.
I disagree. I think that everyone should exercise their right to vote, whether they're completely informed or not.
1. They will stop voting.
2. They will work harder to become informed for the next time!
Sure there will be people who vote after vote do just what MTV tells them to do, but no one here is a complete automoton. They understand at SOME level what they're voting for, and thus they have a right to have their vote counted.
I'm not a fan of "slippery slope" arguments, but if you start disenfranching certain segments of people for their perceived uninformed vote, what's to say that next time you won't miss the cut?
I agree. Let the darn kids be unique by their actions rather than unique by name. Why do parents feel that it is so great an honor to bestow on their innocent children? Do they really care if they're one of three Jason's in class?
Who really notices that a name is spelled differently? The amazingly cultured popular kids who respect the bold statement made by taking on a unique monicker? No, it's the relentless bullies with NORMAL names like TOM and JACK, who will torment poor jeffrey van dale until he's huddled in a corner of the playground, clutching a member's only jacket (also given by loving parents), sucking his thumb trying to go to his happy place!
AH, but that is just hypothetically speaking.....

What are you worried about? They have access to other utilities such as electric and you don't see them snooping in on your hairdrier usage.
They could also snoop around your sewer usage as well, which for me would be a lot more embarassing than snooping my broadband connection!
That area is so flat one high gain antenna on top of a flag pole should be able to service everyone.

Bush knows. He had them put it there. He plans to trade it for oil with the people of Mars.

Anybody have some additional reference?
Why on earth does France have nuclear weapons?
Yea, I missed the open close angle brackets being HTML'd in preview.
the search for WMD is as simple as:
SELECT w.GPSCoordinates
FROM Weapons w
WHERE w.DestructionType = 'Mass'
AND w.Owner 'United States'
What is NOT useful about extending what could be the best cross-everything wireless technology so far beyond its retail limits?
Unless the people who say that EMFs and very high and very low frequency radio waves can kill you are right, I think this is great!
I'll just wear a lead apron until they tell me one way or the other....

Unfortunately it was discovered that two other names predated yours and they were found prior to yours entering common use:
lamus posti
and the more common
wastus of timus
My eyes glazed over while reading the link....

While the article is absolutely informative in a panic-causing sort of way, they're a little off on their history.

While Wargames popularized the practice (among geeks anyway) it was not the origin of it.
in many cases a mentally retarded man cannot vote That might explain why *I* didn't get to vote last election!
