The healthcare system is not broken. You see, humans program the technology. Humans are greedy and cannot survive without money. Humans then program the technology to keep humans just sick enough to make money off them and their insurance. This is why I still have cancer and the healthcare system is still broken.
(I was never bitter until I witnessed the healthcare keep me sick) ----- Just my $0.02, take with a grain of salt, your mileage may vary.
Why couldn't these rules also apply to CNN? They spew more tactical information on their news channels than anyone else.
Picture it: The first Gulf War.
Remember when CNN was there, with cameras transmitting from a Navy Seals landing site in Kuwait as the soldiers crawled out of the water, looking around at the cameras being shoved in the their faces, deer-in-the-headlights look in their eyes.
CNN and other news sites should be censored. The soldiers know what'll happen to them if they talk. Wolf Blitzer didn't give a crap.
I think Power (according to IBM, anyway) offers a lot better performance/watt and scales better up to supercomputer-ish sizes.
You're partially correct. PowerPC procs scale massively but can't offer better performance/watt. This is one of the reasons that Apple dropped PowerPC in the Mac.
I'm sure Sony 'has a reason' for this if it's true.
I *can* see this happening if they're planning on releasing an MMORPG like an exclusive PS3 version of Everquest or something. The only reason I bought my original PS2 was Everquest Online Adventures.
Every day that goes by, I keep thinking that this Microsoft/Novell deal is nothing more than a prelude to Microsoft outright buying Novell who will then offer some cheap-ass Linux desktop solution.
With Novell owning the original Unix IP, Microsoft may then eventually have the upper hand. That's a SCARY thing...
Go ahead and start modding me down now, but it has to be said: It's childish behavior like this that is tearing down Linux bit by bit.
I've used Linux since version 0.9 and just recently said goodbye to it because of this shit. I've listened to Torvalds, ESR, Cox, David Cantrell and the rest of the pack of wolves nitpick it to death. THEY'RE the reason Linux never went mainstream to the desktop (I said DESKTOP, people), there's way too much infighting that's keeping it down.
Until everyone agrees to work together like they should to _advance_ Linux, they'll continue to keep it as stagnant as it has been for the last few years, which has been nothing but arguing over software patents and proprietary drivers.
What's left for me? I'm keeping my Solaris x86 server and I've bought a Mac. Case closed.
I think DRM _should_ exist... but as a user-controlled management solution.
DRM was originally designed to allow YOU, the USER to manage your own rights. It's a scheme to allow you to trust something of your own free will. The power was in YOUR hands.
However, the vendors took over the control of 'rights'. The problem here is that they don't trust YOU and hence, DRM is hated because we lost the ability to control it.
If DRM was back in the USERS hands, everyone would be singing the praises of DRM.
Sweden and a few other European countries are now showing their backbone impling (not saying it outright, they don't want to piss off big business because that means less money for their economy) that business-controlled DRM is bad. Notice that they've never said anything about user-centric DRM...
There should be no patents allowed to cover any type of 'education' method or process. This is akin to commercializing education in the name of the almighty buck (Private schools, universities). It's sick.
The free exchange of information should be free and open to all without regard to class, race, religion, etc.
I *STILL* have cancer to this day because of the bullcrap like this.
IMHO as a cancer patient, the reason why there's no 'cure' to different types of diseases (including diabetes) is because the pharmaceutical companies make billions of dollars a year keeping us sick. If there was a cure, there goes their profits.
I would like to see a law passed that says that if a cure if found and not distributed within a viable time frame to the general public (lets say 10 years), the company can be charged with genocide.
Will it happen? Hell no. There's too many people in power in Washington who owns stocks in these companies.
- Just my $0.02, take with a grain of salt, your mileage many vary...
This pro **AA act could be the nail in the coffin for not only the Creative Commons,
but MY freedom as an artist.
I admit I am Anti-DRM, but there's two sides to every viewpoint. When big
business wants to trample on MY rights, they'll trample on yours next. Call your
House and Congressional representatives immediately to stop allowing big business
interests to stomp on the rights of the actual artist.
Although my rant here is over, I won't quit until this legislation is dropped in a
hole, set aflame and then buried.
No.

There's got to be SOME way to mod my 300bps Vicmodem to connect to my USB port.
Do we REALLY need a GPL v3?
I'm still waiting for someone to make a Full Metal Alchemist reference...
Siberia, huh? To attract bodies, they may want to make it as family friendly as possible, like adding a water park.
Oh wait...
Just imagine what will happen to Wal-Mart if they had to sell retail...

I want to play Hunt The Wumpus again.
Oh, you want the Planet Express Ship.

I'd love to read Steve Jobs' reply to the "BSD is dying" argument.
Nope, all the ads will be a 1 pixel GIF file. You won't see it, but they'll make a lot of money from it.

That's not going to stop Microsoft from REQUIRING it, though... Then we won't have a choice.

Finally, we get to see the real-life 'Red VS Blue.'
I'll be the first to say it...
"What a load..."
Shhh, don't let SCO hear about this as they'll probably assert some claim to the code just to have it disproven in 3 to 5 years.
Alas, Taco Bell was left off the list again, coming in at number six.
