Upon reading the front page quote from Dvorak, the first thing I wanted to do is put my fist through the 19in CRT.
I couldn't believe John Dvorak would say something like this. Upon reading his article/rant/blithering-ichor, I've come to the realizaion that JD never bothered to read any of the CC licences. Then I started to laugh.
As a filmmaker, I wouldn't even be able to LEGALLY and freely distribute my productions on the web. As the copyright owner, I control the licence with CC. Personally, I've chosen the
by-nc-nd licence to allow for free, unlimited personal use. Commercial uses are stricly controlled. You have the freedom with CC to create virtually any kind of licence you want for any type of original work.
Why is this harmful, JD? Why isn't empowering copyright owners with freedoms to "give" their work away threaten you?
The OS/2 userbase was totally shocked upon hearing this news from IBM. He then went to the fridge and got a soda.
Actually, I got a beer and poured it into my 386/DX40 running OS/2 2.1 while saying some really deep religious shit.
I'm serious... Am I the only person here with a still-running running OS/2 box?
If Steve Jobs is smart, and some people think he is, he'll release an unlocked X86 version of OSX at the same time Longhorn is released. Finally, real competition in the OS market.
My OS/2 2.1 box from the early 1990's is still running. I haven't shut it down in years! What's especially scary is the 48MB IDE drive in it is still spinning too.
Australia needs a few judges who are well educated in reality. Obviously, they seem not to know what a computer does. People down there are being convicted of "computer crimes" -- some of their "crimes" being completely legal here in the U.S.A.M.P.A.A.R.I.A.A.

One of the things I really like about MAC OSX is that it offers Windows users an alternative to Windows if they are not interested or if they are afraid for Linux.
Oh really? So OS X is now available for the x86 and x86_64 arch? NOT!
Believe me, if I could afford a Mac, I'd have a Mac.
Code is important, comments are priceless.
Let me give you some examples of comments I've seen digging through someone else's code: (the following is true)
/* what the hell does this do? */
/* who wrote this shit? */
/* this is supposed to fix the code that didn't work but I don't know which code it was supposed to fix - if you know what this is supposed to fix email me at [email address here] */
/* whoever wrote this beware: when I find you I will track you down and kill your dog!!!!! */
When will these jackass lawmakers learn that the only reason they're here -- is because of sex!!!
When these new devices error, they'll be a lot of emotionally challenged people muttering the name Sarah Connor.
$50 per game x 3.5 million = $175 million
$15 per month x 3.5 million = $52.5 million per month
$52.5 million x 12 months = $630 million per year in subscription fees.
I'm in the wrong damn business!

Obviously, you've never seen Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend.

Who cares how many lights the chipsets can emulate when the games themselves still suck?

"Broadcasters have recently accepted a deadline of January 2029 for the mandatory end of analog television signal broadcasts..."
You wouldn't have that problem if you were running Linux like the rest of us.
Nope, it's I before E except in Budweiser.
If you connect to it, you too can be arrested.

Just as long as the price of this stock wasn't artificially manipulated by $950 per share, we could have been in hot water.
This allows the artist the opportunity to choose what licence the work will be distributed in.

I personally use Creative Commons for my releases.
I hope Marvel sues.
