If you have to save your progress on a memory card, it's too damn complicated and therefore not fun.
This is why after all the years people are still playing Pac Man and Tetris and not the multitudes of no-name GTA ripoffs or outdated EA Sports schlock.
Not everyone has the room for all those gadgets. The PS2 was brilliant in the fact I was able to ditch my DVD player, and that it stands up on its end. When it goes out (or when I get the money) I'll replace it with a Mac Mini.
No, we bash them for sitting on top of a monopoly, with all the advantages of having the brightest minds and the biggest pile of cash to put products out, and after 5 years since XP came out and more than 10 years since the NT kernel came out, we're still waiting on Microsoft to deliver the Windows they've been talking about delivering.
Well I suppose I was cheated at my elementary school. The first time I saw a computer was in 2nd grade and it was a Commodore-128. The second time I saw a computer it was an Apple II. I didn't see a PC running DOS until I was in 6th grade, and it was weird because LOAD "game",8,1 didn't work at all.
There's no reason kids nowdays have to have a homogeneous Microsoft only environment in order to "make it" in society. Quite the contrary, in my experience.
And I dimly seem to remember back in the days when Java was brand new that the talk of.NET was to make extinct the shrink-wrapped software distribution paradigm and move it to distributing software on the Internet. The idea seemed to be to extend to all Microsoft applications, including Windows and Office. Of course, this hasn't happened. I only wonder why, because that is the direction alot of software vendors have already gone (Gentoo comes to mind), and of course the music industry is going (thanks to Apple).
Sure, I rip my own MP3s from CD, so I'm not stuck with their proprietary format.
Oh for the last freaking time, AAC/MPEG4 is NOT A PROPRIETARY FORMAT. It's an ISO standard. It's superior to MP3. For a Shuffle owner such as yourself it is exactly the format you should be using because of space savings.
I'm sorry, I would normally let this slide on other sites like Fark, but not on Slashdot.
VBR or CBR AAC file? That makes a noticeable difference.
The file size savings are well worth it for we Shuffle users, not even to mention the wider EQ and more sophisticated sampling methods of AAC compared to MP3. I for one cannot wait until the MP3 format is obselete.
No problem. That's no fault of the softare (ImageMagick or MediaWiki), that's more of a hosting issue.
If you want to make ImageMagick do some realtime work within a MediaWiki site, go to Special Pages > Gallery of new files and start clicking on progressively older images. Chances are good you are watching ImageMagick generate 120px-wide thumbnails as you wait for the page to load.
Just to clarify, ImageMagick is not called everytime someone views that smaller thumbnail everytime they view the Wikipedia article, ImageMagick is called upon only when the orginal article was edited, the output is saved by MediaWiki as a totally new image into an images folder. From then on, it's a straight HTML img tag.
I just wanted to make sure people didn't think ImageMagick is being called upon the MediaWiki software every time the image got a page hit.
Hey now, Gentoo only claims to be "Linux for basement dwelling subhumans" like myself. We don't have the lofty goals of polish and bliss over here in emerge-world-ville.
Well, one one hand, this didn't stop Windows 3.x or Windows 95 from becoming ubiquitous (autoexec.bat and config.sys anyone?). But in fairness, that was 10-15 years ago.
As a Gentoo user, I tried out Ubuntu on an old Toshiba laptop about a month or three ago when the current version came out. I liked what a I saw, but I ran into to huge problems. One, Ubuntu completely screwed up the monitor settings for the laptop, and the sound was completely futzed. I found the solution to fixing the monitor settings on an Ubuntu user forum (involved hand editing X.org's conf file) and the sound, well, I managed to get it to play somewhat but GNOME still never detected it properly.
If Ubuntu wants to be "Linux for human beings" it needs all the polish it can get after that experience.
This should make it easy for the US Army to detect IUDs set off by Disney Mobile phones.
SELECT * FROM interweb WHERE results LIKE %i'm feeling lucky!!!!!`11`%;
That's it. SQL on rails is awesome.

Windows Live instead of Google, I understand that, but what is the Microsoft alternative to the iPod?

Well, it obscures a good 70% of each screenshot. How is that anymore useful than Alt-Tab now? Are they worried about completely ripping off Expose?
The problem is if that's true, what's the point of Vista then on those older systems if they already have XP or 2000?

Yeah, but thunder only happens when it's raining.
Well, if my Toyota bluescreened on the highway people would die.
And I might spill my coffee on my lap.

No, it's something you donate by sticking needles in your arm.
Not that I would download it.
Until then, I've got little reason to double up on SQL server software.

Thanks, I did. And I look forward to seeing how good Ubuntu becomes.
