The article makes the claim that car companies can't sell cars that have emission levels below CA and national standards. EPA and related standards set MAXIMUM levels of pollutants, not minimums. It would have been a big help if the author had provided any references to the regulations he's writing about. Until then, I'll remain very skeptical of his claims.
Easy...shelf space. Stocking both would essentially require them to stock two of everything, which isn't optimal if you're trying to provide a wide selection to your customers.
As the earliest versions of the Koran date from 750AD, it clearly doesn't have anything to say about the Holocaust. There may be some who don't believe it happened, but there is no religious bases for that belief.
I believe in real assets that have finite supply, not intellectual assets that can have near infinite supply.
Books, articles, news reports and blogs don't write themselves, and the last time I checked, there was a finite number of hours in a day. Thus I think it's easy to conclude that that intellectual property that people create is NOT in infinite supply.
Besides impeachment, Congress also has the ability exercise it's influence as it holds the purse strings that fund all of the presidents "projects". That has also been found to be effective in the past, and will be a new experience for our current president. I think we'll see a different side of G.W. once he finds out that the House and Senate don't exist to simply rubber-stamp his wants and desires.
Last month I had a trip to Korea, where the Chicago to Soul leg was 13 hours...needless to say, reducing a 17 hour trip to 6 hours would be very welcome.

What will happen if my Electronic passport fails at a port-of-entry?
The chip in the passport is just one of the many security features of the new passport. If the chip fails, the passport remains a valid travel document until its expiration date. The bearer will continue to processed by the port-of-entry officer as if he/she had a passport without a chip.
Although only 2 of 17 patients recovered, if this was an initial human trial, then all the scientists were looking for was toxicity effects in people who were otherwise pretty much beyond any other medical treatment. i.e. people with cancer so advanced, that a treatment like this probably wouldn't make them any worse.
Hopefully when this method of treating cancer is applied to people whose tumors are not so advanced, the results will be far more effective.
Would you please tell this story to the Japanese beetles chewing my raspberries and roses down to nothing? Here in the North-East US there seems to be a never-ending supply of those litter buggers...
I was one of the unfortunate soles we purchased a copy of Corel office for Linux, and it was absolutely unusable. It would typically run for maybe 15 minutes before crashing, sometimes completely locking up the system. Clearly, it was a great example of where the marketers were way ahead of the programmers, and as a result a poorly integrated version of Corel Office for windows bolted to WINE was released that was at best software in the alpha stage.
One the flip side, Corel Wordperfect for Unix actually worked pretty well...I think I still have a copy of it laying around somewhere. Of course, with the availability of Openoffice 2.0, it's hard to imagine any future release of Corel office for Linux garnering any support from the user community at all.
I know that many slashdot readers may not get out much, but you've had to have been living under a rock for the last month to avoid this story; it's been reported on in every mainstream press publication there is.
Holy smokes...a search for NASA shows that the US isn't even in the top 10 regions for the search. I guess interest in the space program in the US has fallen to almost nothing.
Hopefully morons who spend their money in ways like this will soon be parted from it...removing their ability to make bone-head big ticket purchases and complaining about it afterwords.
No doubt that Photoshop has some features that GIMP lacks, and that professionals can't do without (CMYK color, higher color depth, etc.). The next generation of GIMP will be based on GEGL (Generic Graphical Library) which will provide the bulk of these features, but it's development has been a bit slow. Lend a hand and we can help bring GIMP on-par with photoshop.

We don't need a machine to be "polite", we need polite people who use them...like people who won't actually answer their cell phones in the middle of a movie in a theater! Who are these bone-heads?
Clearly the process isn't carbon neutral, but from the standpoint of CO2, it potentially has the effect of making it look like the power plant has disappeared. For example, right now the situation is:
Coal --> Power Plant --> CO2
and at the same time...
Gas --> Car --> CO2
With this system you have:
Coal --> Power plant --> Algae --> Biodiesel production --> Car --> CO2
You've essentially removed the CO2 produced by the power plant.
I've been interested in biodiesel for a long time, but folks like me in New York and people in other states with California emissions cannot currently buy a new diesel passenger car. Hopefully that will soon change when the US starts switching to USLD diesel later this year (Ultra Low Sulpher Diesel) which will allow manufacturers to install emission control equipment on their new vehicles.

No, the plan is to undercut out labor costs and move most of the manufacturing in the US offshore...OH WAIT!
ToddMy first CD was a copy of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here", purchased in 1985. Still plays fine.

Well then, who not repeal ALL sales taxes...and watch the county and local governments collapse? Who needs schools, road repair and bridges?

Global warming will be good for all species? I think polar bears, coral reefs, penguins and humans living near coastal regions might disagree.

I live in upstate New York, and for six months a year, people are not able to enjoy solar powered anything...but that wind sure does blow.
Her days are not all that numbered...she is stepping down as chair, but will retain a seat on the board. Pretty light punishment if you ask me.
Hopefully I'm not the only one who thinks she should be removed from any position of governance at HP (or any other company for that matter).
