Correct. But if you repeat the process several million times over the course of years, you'll be certain, most likely.

I honestly don't know about how accurately can we predict El Nino. BUT, is there a possibility when we don't have to know everything to be able to predict things, when we have some solid facts?

Analogy 2: Take Schrödinger's cat, put it in a box, with a fragile vial of poison which kills the cat instantly.

Drop a 60K Nuke on the box.

Does it really matter now that we couldn't be sure that the cat was killed before the nuke arrived or after? From our viewpoint we know these: we got huge CO emission numbers ( "the nuke" ), those numbers have a known chemical effect. We don't have to explain other weather phenomenas to determine how will be the temperature influenced.

Analogy: Get a pile of sand into your hand. Let the sand slip through your fingers.

Question 1: Do you know how did the grains of sand collide with each other, whirl and which position they took up while falling? (Do meterologists know the weather up to a year?).

Question 2: Do you know where will the sand end up on the floor with a few meters precision? (Can scientists predict global climate changes?).

Now answer these questions and you'll find it easier to believe the computer modells.

Well, depends what kind of side are you talking about. If about scientists, i think the majority of scientists claim global warming is happening and it's likely to be caused by humans.

If you're talking about common people, well, it's mostly the fault of the media which covers the issue as if there would be two equal sides in the story.

Personally, i'm always willing to see facts, if they are facts for real, from both sides. It doesn't mean i'm going to accept those facts without challenging them.

First, GP is correct imo. There are signs, which would be too numerous to detail here, indicating that the USA is behaving as an empire, not as a nation. In a democratic way the USA wouldn't ignore international laws and customs just because noone is in the place to punish them for doing so. If you would examine your economics textbooks a bit more in-depth, you would realise that Japan beat the US economy on a lot of points, pushed the usa out of a lot of markets in the 80ies. It needs a bit longer explanation. After WW2 USA administration assumed that the soviets are 20 years behind technologically at the time. They were proven wrong by the A-bomb two years after, the hydrogen-bomb and sputnik and Gagarin. The administration had a panic reaction and realised that they need to improve the education in the states drastically, which happened in the 60ies (i'm thinking about bleeding edge science here, so universities and laboratories mainly). They pushed a TON of money into the education system and into so called "base or basic research". They came up with a lot of progress and inventions, and the electronical industry LIVES from those inventiones UP UNTIL TODAY. The USA, however stopped these researches because of the economic changes, think of oil crisis, etc. This gave place for Japan in the 80ies to grab markets, because although japan didnt run any base research, they improved the technology they bought from the USA, so that's why it had a big impact on US economy. I have to note that most of these info is from a course i'm attending now and the reasoning i presented is from my teacher specialized in this subject

I'm not saying that something similar is going on with the EU atm, just that there are consequences if someone ruins the education system and that the USA seems to make bad decisions when messing with the economy.

Actually an airbus almost crashed because the people flying it didn't take the computer seriously enough, but they were blaming the computer itself when it was notifying the pilots of fuel loss and other errors. They continously blamed the computer even after one of the two engines shut off, and they finally agreed to the theory of fuel leakage after both engines shut down. They have flown without engines to the closest airport and their only luck was that the route they have taken was different from the usual, because of traffic considerations. I've seen the documentary about it on NatGeo.

My whole point is that the PR rule applies here too, it's not enough to be honourable, or in this case, reliable, but you have to seem like that too.
