You got that completely wrong. The reason there's Gnome stuff in Meego and not KDE stuff is because Meego is a merge of 2 older distributions that used Gnome stuff by default. They only added Qt because Nokia bought it in the mean time.
idTech 5 isn't going to compete with UE3. They aren't going to license it to other developers (except those publishing through Bethesda) mainly because it's too much hassle to support and they'd rather be in the business of making games than supporting engines.
No, the RAGE engine (which stands for Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) is the one used by Rockstar in their various recent games (GTA4, Red Dead Redemption and others). id Software's engines are called idTech and the one used for Rage the game is called idTech 5.
OpenGL 3.3 is basically a backport of a bunch of stuff from OpenGL 4.1 that they could make work on DX10 level hardware (OpenGL 4.1 needs DX11 level hardware).
The only "consoles" where people are using OpenGL ES are the smartphones. Nobody is using it on the other real consoles even though some form of it is usually available. Developers generally prefer the proprietary APIs console manufacturers provide, because they are usually lower level than OpenGL so they can get more performance out of them.
The ease of use mainly. A lot of developers I know use XNA without having or planing to get an Xbox 360. It's easier to learn C# and XNA than the other alternatives.
I (and the guy you were replying to) didn't say anything about the PC so I don't know where that came from. It's off-topic, but if you want to discuss that the PS3, like the other consoles, has the advantages over the PC that it's cheaper and has fixed hardware so you know any game you buy for it will work.
So? You asked why are people still buying from Sony and he gave you a few reasons. They make popular movies, music and games. Whether you like it or not is irrelevant.
He was obviously talking about online play. And yes it could be cheating in some games where you earn ranks or whatever by playing. If you make a custom map for earning them easily that's cheating. Just look at what happens with Team Fortress 2 on the PC with all the leveling maps out there.
I didn't understand any of what you said. This new scheme doesn't make much sense. Why didn't they just name these new cards 6770 and 6750 if that's the price range they're targeting? This will just confuse consumers and is something I would expect from nVidia or Intel, AMD are usually sensible in their naming conventions.
You're remembering things incorrectly. Graphics have always been a big deal in video games. I remember when the SNES first came out people were calling it's graphics revolutionary and realistic... It's not something new.
I think that has more to do with the fact that games of that caliber are taking longer and longer to make as the consoles become more and more powerful. Especially from the moment they switched from 2d or 2d backgrounds with 3d characters to everything 3d, so they couldn't take shortcuts anymore and have to model everything everywhere the player can go.
That's because the 5870 is more powerful than the 6xxx cards they've released so far.
Don't trust anything you read on Phoronix. Go read directly from the source: http://wayland.freedesktop.org/architecture.html
What's to stop them from just implementing kernel mode setting as an open source module and keep the rest of the code (the vast majority) closed?
Not to mention that the title is incorrect. They are not replacing X with Unity but with Wayland. Unity is just another desktop like Gnome and KDE.
The only one I see crying and yelling it you...

Sorry, I meant OpenGL 4.0, not 4.1.

It's the new shell they are using in Ubuntu Netbook Edition.

I meant grinding for achievements.
So?

What does that have to do with a PC game?

What if people take it for Lesbian Office?
Well, 'office' is also a French word, though it means something else.
How can it be delayed when they've never announced a release date?
