Actually most of the games I copied for my modded PS1 were not games I would have normally bought. These were mainly games that I thought looked interesting but wouldn't have paid what they were asking at the time for it. I purchased the games I thought I would be playing for a long time since the orignal discs seem less prone to scratches than recordable cds.

well, most people that grew up with MTV(born in late 70's, 80's), also grew up playing video games(Atari, Original NES, Sega master system, intellivision,etc...). So I don't see a problem with the correlation between the two. This may not be the overall case but it is undeniably the majortiy. A "classy" awards show would just not work. For example, compare the number of 20-somethings who watch the oscars with the number that watch the MTV awards. MTV wins hands down. I not saying that spikes attempt was the best example, but I didn't think it was as bad as some make it out to be but thats my opinion. I for one enjoy the new stereotypes. No longer will I be though of as overweight, lonely, and living in my parents basement. Now being a gamer is the "in" thing. /sarcasm

Here in Tennessee,US I have charter communications and the internet service is 49.99USD + $5 modem rental fee if you don't have cable television service through them. with tv service it runs 39.99 plus modem rental. This gives me 3mb/256k. the only other option I believe they have is 384k/256k for 29.99USD. I have basic + extended cable and 3mb internet and my total bill comes to a little over $100USD a month. The only other option I have is DSL which I can get the same speed for $10 less but I have to get a home phone line and that usually runs about $30. My wife and I have a shared cell phone plan with T-mobile(with several extra phones in case one malfunctions)so I really have no need for a landline. Charter is my only choice for now. Damn cable monopoly. Why is everything better in canada?

Your argument does not make sense. You say if you smoke and get lung cancer you should not be covered by the state. Yet....

If you break an arm, it should be covered.

What if you were standing on a roof? There is a good chance you will probably fall off and break your arm so you are responsible for your behavior and should not have been on the roof.

smoking promotes lung and oral cancer but the act of smoking itself is not the direct causation. You can smoke for 40 years and not get any kind of cancer. On the other hand, you could never smoke or be around smoke and get lung cancer. again smoking promotes this but is not the direct causation, there are other lifestyle choices which can spur this(nutrition and vitamin intake). Unlike if you were to drink a bottle of antifreeze where there is direct causation.(drink a gallon of antifreeze and you will die no matter who you are. no ifs ands or buts). See the difference?

Well, different strokes for different folks I guess. I'm a little more hyped about the PSP but in reality I probably won't buy either system until they come out with a recordable medium so I can play my old console games on them. Given nintendos past, there is slim chance of them doing this(except GBA to DS of course). PSP seems close to this, but even if I could transfer to the correct medium, would it be compatible with PS1 titles? I can't see paying $50 for a handheld title. Even $30 seems steep. But I'm a cheapo...

*also raises hand* being a person over the age of 21, i did not find the GBA all that impressive. It seemed to me that most of the games were ripped off from the major console counterparts and dumbed downed to side scroller platformers. I dont care if the thing will last 40 days without recharging. If the product isn't impressive the battery life does not matter. For this reason i am slightly leaning toward the PSP due to the fact that I have be impressed by their previous systems. Two hours of battery life is not very good but if I get to play a better quality game than it is worth it to me. Overall I think the PSP will appeal more to gamers old enough to buy alcohol.

You must have forgotten the early nintendo days.

Blow in the cartridge, not seat the cartridge all the way in the nintendo, blow again, put another cartridge on top of the catridge and leave the lid open. Ring a bell? Of course this was probably due more to the medium itself than the actual system hardware. But on my old nintendo I would have to do that to new games too. Everyone that owned a nintendo in the 80's had this same problem and it was real irritating. It was so common it was almost an expected procedure in order to have to play a game.
