    Well you wouldn't launch from just *any* airport... you always launch eastward to gain speed from earth's rotation. And you wanna be as close to the equator as feasible, and you want lots of ocean or non-populated wasteland to the east of your launch site in case your rocket blows up. Which is why we launch from the east coast of Florida or Texas.

    It would take at least a few minutes from liftoff to Mach 1, by which time the spacecraft will be over empty ocean anyways. So TFSummary about concorde noise is nonsense.

    1. It's not exploitation if the homeless/unemployed person does this voluntarily for a wage (aka a job).

    They wouldn't be in harm's way if they're positioned somewhere sensible where cars don't travel, such as a sidewalk.

    2. Drivers get into accidents for all kinds of stupid reasons. Cops sometimes appear at busy intersections, as well as hookers, protesters, news cameramen, fruit vendors, etc. I don't see any outrage to ban these.

    3. Little girls in cars, oh my... won't someone please think of the CHILDREN!

    slashdot can barely make a functioning AJAX and CSS for desktop PCs (and it's still slow and css breaks in some browsers)... you want them to make an iOS app that works in different resolutions for iphone5, iphone 4, ipad 1/2/mini, ipad 3/4, and then an Android app that works for the umpteen hordes of different Android versions and devices, and a third one for Windows 8 RT and Windows Surface Pro, and Windows Phone 8, all without sucking balls?

    You ask too much.

    Asimov's solution resulted in a mind-reading robot who could erase memories in humans, who then went on to discover the limitation of the Three Laws and decided that the best thing for humanity was to turn Earth into a radioactive wasteland in order to encourage people to leave their underground caves of steel and migrate out into the galaxy. The robot also decided that humans are better off without robots, so he manipulated society into rejecting robots and in the end there was only one sentient robot in existence hiding out on the Moon.

    It would also not help. Most mental deficiencies are caused by environmental factors, not heredity. Problems in childbirth and drug (especially alcohol) use are by far the most common causes of mental retardation.

    We are not talking about mental retardation from prenatal trauma here. We are talking about the general IQ level of those who have fully functioning non-retarded brains.

    Selective pressure in favor of a certain trait results in a population with more of that trait. This is like, really obvious stuff from chapter 1 of Evolution 101. It is a well-understood and widely accepted phenomena. How do you think humans developed higher IQ than the other primates?

    No, racebikes don't have speedos. Anyways a speedo has nothing to do with overrevving, if you're concerned at that you should be looking at the tachometer, not the speedometer.

    Racers (at least motorcycle racers, I donno about cars) don't think in terms of "Ok next corner is a 75mph corner". They think in gears, as in "This is a third-gear corner and I should be at 7000 rpm when I begin my drive out of the corner"

    In what universe is Rick Santorum a libertarian? Do you even know what a libertarian is? Or perhaps in your little mind everything that you dislike or oppose are all equal to one another?

    Here are some of the things the Libertarian party supports:

    -Legalization of marijuana
    -Abortion rights for women
    -Gay marriage rights
    -reduction of the military budget
    -reduction of troops overseas
    -reduction of U.S. involvement in foreign wars

    Does this sound far right reactionary to you?

    nope, it doesn't require a constitutional amendment. All it needs is this:

    National Popular Vote Interstate Compact

    California has already enacted it into law. All it needs is more states to ratify it until enough states are on aboard to total 270 electoral votes.

    The tools were simple: a $1,000 Universal Software Radio Peripheral software-defined radio, an amplifier, and the freeware GNU Radio software, plus of course, the team's knowledge of wireless protocols and data processing.

    Yeah really, it's not like home burglars are gonna buy this equipment, enroll in CS/EE courses at the local university, and learn wireless protocols so they can figure out if the owner is home before they rob it.

    The submitter's distress over 4th amendment rights is equally stupid. If the spooks and cops wanna know your power usage, they can just pick up the phone and call the power company.
