This all sounded good until they said they would be doing "Geek Squad style repairs". Does this mean they will recommend the Norton Anti-virus suite be installed and send a $500 bill?
And maybe Austria has the sense to stay within budgets? Yeah, I want to see science funded well. However, I don't want to see nations spending themselves into oblivion. My country has spent the last eight years spending recklessly, and isn't showing signs of stopping. Right now, my country pays enough on the interest of its debt to pay for a cern project EVERY SINGLE WEEK.
Think about that for a minute. It boggles my mind. But debt kills. Austria dropping cern is sad. But if it is for balancing a budget in a rough time, then so be it.
You buy a product. Apple then tells you what you can and cannot put on your product? If you really wanted an app on your phone, and it was not available at the Apple Store, would you be able to get it anyhow? Or are you out of luck?
And why in the hell would anyone buy a product where the company gets to treat you like a five year old?
This is a non-issue. With all of the vulnerabilities in applications that think they are a programming interface (like Acrobat), EXE's might actually be safer to open.
For all intents and purposes, newspapers have been getting paid by advertising for years. I doubt the $0.50 I have to put in the box for daily newspaper covers the cost of the trees they have to cut down. Why can't the online advertising model work as well?
Um.... sure they will. Hate t break this to you, but regardless of party affiliation, folks are like you and me.... cheap. If one source of news is free and another isn't, folks will flock to the free.
One point of advice. Next time, ensure you have built up some karma before going for a first post. You are now in the dreaded zero point posting land and are doomed to a life of slashdot obscurity.
I hate condoms. For a couple years I used them with my wife as the pill was creating undesirable side effects. Regardless of brand or style, you DO NOT get the same level of sensation as without. Tight, loose or somewhere in between.. the condom just didn't matter. Sure, it was still fun, but "unprotected" I could feel more sensation in my skin as it rubbed against hers. I am glad that since I had my two kids I went the vasectomy route. Sex life has improved, and it is a lot more fun.
On another note, it is also fun to be able to get half-way into it... take a breather and go back at it later. Repeat as much as I am able. With a condom, that just ain't practical.
I am generally against non-compete for the reason you cite. I do think there are exceptions though if someone is in a position where he is in upper levels of management and is moving to a direct competitor.
And even that flies out the window if the employer chooses to cut ties with the employee.
Your sig: People who don't agree with the principles in the Declaration and writings of the U.S. Founders should move to the E.U.
You do realize that you are arguing that you should move to the E.U., right? The principles of our founding fathers included the right to disagree with authority, even their own. So, since you don't believe in that principle, by your argument, you should move.
The gov't has the right to rent space where people go (e.g. a mall).
The mall has the right to evict anyone, at the choosing of the mall owner or their delegated authority such as security guards, from the property.
What is so hard to understand about this?
It is easy to understand. A government agency is using a private entity to protect itself from free speech. Simple as that. What is funny about this whole thing is I do not support the protesters. I do, however, support their right to protest. Incidents like he two major parties enforcing "free speech zones" at conventions make me ill. Stories like this where a government office hides behind property do as well. Gradually our rights are being eroded and folks like you are cheering it.
Then the army oughtn't be able to open a center there. Frankly, this whole "hide behind public property" that the government uses is wrong. It is basically circumventing the first amendment by using technicalities. Whether you or I agree with the protest, citizens should be free to peacefully protest their government.
Try following the thread. The person I responded to said that the original post should be marked redundant because it has been said dozens of times before. So, following that logic "death to the RIAA" should be also modded redundant. Nowhere did I say the RIAA is good.

Sadly enough, I think I prefer it to the other HTML changes that Slashdot has made...
Funny.... I have a Windows Mobile operating system, and I can develop what I want. I can install what I want.
Ah, so Apple users are basically Wal-Mart shoppers. Thanks for the insight.

Because it has seen your last few posts and is trying to save you the embarrassment :)

Yeah, that will TOTALLY attract the chicks!
It is why I asked instead of flamed :)
Is English your first language?

All I want to know is who the hell is this Bill, and why does he hate my blog so much?
No, I couldn't be bothered to read more than the headline. Thanks for asking.

How do you calculate those people with duel (or more) boots?
I think you will find that most folks' shoes are more peaceful than that.
Go out on the street. Talk to about 1000 people. Ask them what operating system they have on their home computer.
My prediction on the results
Huh?: 45%
Windows: 25%
No Computer: 20%
Mac: 8%
Linux: 2%
Let the Taco Bell jokes commence.

Wow. That might actually be worse than a GNAA troll first post.
