My assumption is that that is related to managed memory. An object is marked as being ready for disposal, but is not actually disposed. When a minimize event occurs, garbage collection occurs.
Now, I could really be off on this, but I have not seen anyone give a reason for this behavior that explains everything I see. If you have a better conclusion, I am all ears:)
Do this experiment. 1) Browse with IE for a few minutes. 2) Look at the memory usage 3) Minimize IE. 4) Look at the memory usage 5) Maximize IE 6) Look at the memory usage.
Compare #2 and #6. I've found that #6 is lower than #2.
Are they using the handy dandy Task Manager? If so, this is not even remotely accurate. In the age of managed memory, this is an estimate at best. Don't believe me. Open up internet explorer, run it a while and look at the memory usage. Now minimize IE. Watch the number drop like a lead balloon.
Clearly, you do not. The whole point of Darwinism revolves around passing of genes. The weak get culled as you say. But those who do not install adblock are NOT at a lower chance of passing on their genes.
What exactly does this have to do with Darwinism? Does the virus cause the computer to kill the user so he/she cannot reproduce? And is computer illiteracy genetic? If not, then my next suggestion is that parent poster just likes to feel smug about his computer knowledge...
On the flip-side, direct brain I/O is also a major step towards William Gibson's Neuromancer and other cyberpunk dark futures."
As we move toward a better understanding of the brain as a biochemical machine, we are better able to manipulate it through various methods. As we do that, we run into the ethical delima of doing so. But if we accept that we are only a complex machine, then is there really any concept of "human rights", or is it just a social construct that may be revoked at any time.
Reading a lot of this apocalyptic literature, you notice something... the same folks who deny a deity, who deny that we are more than a complex set of chemicals are the sameones who talk about a human spirit... something intangible that makes human manipulation wrong. This duplicity of thought, to me, is rather humorous.
I'd just like to say "Thank You" to Slashdot for keeping me up on these latest developments. I like being on the cutting edge of Science and Technology, and nothing is more Science and Technology than a software application upgrade. the new options will clearly increase my productivity. I think I will take another week off this year,
70% of all "file sharers" use Google. Anyone with even a small background in statistics can see that Google is behind all this piracy. Comcast is simply watching out for our economy. I say good for them. Now if they would only do something about that wretched Slashdot and its wanker community.
Traffic circles are simple. You just can wait for an engraved invitation to enter the circle. Usually I get caught behind one of these folks and watch with amazement as they pass up opportunity after opportunity.
So you can combine 16 of these to get 128GB. Can you combine 32 to get 256GB? And what if you combine 128 of them for 1TB!? The possibilities are endless.
3) Go outside and get on with it (your life, that is).
Perhaps you should do that instead of replying to posts you don't give a shit about?

Or maybe other countries are in favor of giving consumer choices? Or is that anti-capitalist?

... for ad blocking software comments.
You must not be using Adblock.
Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Ahhh, Slashdot, full of atheists who reduce us to biochemical machines yet want to endow us with rights endowed by our Creator.
It is a press release. No product was unveiled. So, what's the point?
If "ironic" = "moderator is an inbred moron", then I agree.
He will not be electrocuted, or at least if he is, he will survive.
By definition, electrocution means death. It is one of those misused words of the English language.
Ah, but if they did manage to mate, would we see some of these new genes survive?
The above is a perfect example of a "straw man" argument.

What about me who says 13.7 Billion at a minimum, but could quite honestly be infinite?

Yup. This is why I prefer my bytes to be 16 bits long. My memory addressing is much more efficient this way.

Or P=0. My solution is more complete :)
I would have checked my spelling, but someone patented that already.
