    The last time I checked 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, and 5 GHz was open to the general public. Why is the FCC even trying to dictate what we can do on these bands?

    Cars have been around for 130 years. What exactly could Apple do that would make a car better? Apple is not getting into the car business simply because there is not enough turn over, people hold onto cars for 10 + years. These are the same reason why they're not going to make a tv, Apple has said so.

    240 VAC * 10 amps = 2400 W.
    24 VDC * 10 amps = 240 W.

    With the cost of copper wire being what it is I don't see DC distribution winning over AC.

    In the end, all taxes, no matter how they are levied, are paid by the consumer. I've done the math before on all the taxes one pays, and it easily comes out to well over 50% for the average lower or middle-class consumer.

    I think a better system would be to just tax corporations, they generate the wealth.

    We're all fucked unless we change are thinking that unemployment and welfare are bad. Whether we're working or not the corporations should have to support us. Tax them to the hilt and eliminate personal income tax. Provide a stipend to all citizens that covers the essentials of living; those who want to earn more money can choose to work.

    Evolution doesn't care if you get ugly, contract cancer and die in your 50s. If this thing doesn't make you less attractive or hurt your chances to make it into your teens and early 20s, evolution doesn't even notice it.

    Yes it does care, children need parents to raise and protect them. Furthermore, grandparents can help raise and protect their grandchildren. Both of these increase the odds that their offspring will reproduce.

    This judge was smart, he probably knew his judgement will be reversed on appeal but he knew it would take at least a year to make it through the appeals process. Since the patents expire next year the company's plan is screwed. The judge's message to the company was a big fuck you.

    No, straight Helium is a lower density medium than normal air. This means less atmospheric friction and less driver motor friction while spinning a platter.

    Wouldn't it be better to just create a vacuum inside the drive? The vapor pressure of aluminum at 10^-10 torr is 600 C.

    Here's my Philosophical objection: if people can be exempt based on religious beliefs I can be exempt because I feel vaccines are bad.

    Speaking frankly, all of you people should be charged with child abuse, you should have to justify your objection to vaccination to a jury of your peers. Per the Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (42 U.S.C Chapter 67):

    the term ‘child abuse and neglect’ means, at a minimum, any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker, which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation, or an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm;"
