I read that entire article about the man not owning a TV. I would be fine if he just didn't own one, but he's to the point of being extremely obnoxious. That's absurd. If I met him, I would punch him in the face.
Yeah. Thanks to spammers, I didn't get into the Playstation HOME beta. I saw the link and it was an unknown address, so I didn't click it. Turns out that it was the real deal..:-/
Most people know to look at it to make SURE that it goes to Bank of America, but many don't. It will help, but won't solve the problem.
I disagree with charging 50K. Just restrict it. Not everyone can register.gov. If you charge 50K to a smaller bank (like the one my girlfriend uses.. Union National Community Bank), they won't do it. They could spend that 50K on something else. I think they should charge more to offset researching costs. They should research all banks that apply for a.bank domain. If they charged $500, it would be much more reasonable and could offset cost of researching the bank before approval.
THAT would work much better.
I know that, personally, I get about 5 e-mails to confirm my Bank of America account per day. Obviously scams. (and yes, I use Bank of America)
What about the terrible costs from cell phone providers? We were with Sprint for about a year of our two year contract and we moved to an area without signal, so we asked them if we could cancel without the $150 per phone (we had 2 phones) cancellation fee. They said sure. So, when we moved and cancelled, no matter who we talked to, they all told us that we had to pay $300. I hate cell phone companies.
Not really. I'm sure it will be well worth it in a year or so. I can't wait for Unreal Tournament 2007. Resistance is a great game too. I'll be using it for Folding@Home as well.
At least they didn't have manufacturing problems like the Xbox 360 *still* does. (when are they shrinking the die size anyways?)
I use Thunderbird and after about a month of training the filters, it gets about 90% of my spam. The only thing is that if someone who hasn't e-mailed me before e-mails me, it goes to spam.:( It seems to be so strict that it only trusts people I e-mail. At least it figured out which e-mails are REALLY from eBay, PayPal, and Bank of America and which ones aren't. I've learned not to click any links from e-mail but to go straight to the address. Still, I check every single spam message I receive (400 a day or so), just to make sure. It's such a pain. If I ever get my hands on someone who writes the trojans that do all this, I'm going to have to beat their face into a pulp. It's caused me way too much trouble.
Yes, Mandriva (formerly Mandrake) is a French company. I don't see any reason why they would use Mandriva over anything else, other than Mandriva being French.
I do a lot of computer technical support and one thing that I have found Google to be extremely useful for is spyware lookup. All I do is type the name of the process in and 90% of the time, the first or second link will tell me (right on the Google summary; without even clicking) if it is malware or not.

Just realized it was on the Onion. :S.. Oops..

I do agree with you, though. It's a good idea.
That's a good idea. Seems to me that it could stop a lot of phishing, but not all of it. You still have people making links like:

The Chimera are spreading again?!? I thought I just defeated them in Resistance: Fall of Man. Time to go slaughter them again!
I hope the world doesn't get overrun by the Chimera again!
Forgive me if this was mentioned in the article, but where is NetHack? I briefly scanned the article and didn't see it mentioned.
I keep getting this kind of spam:

Anyone have any idea what it says? I sure don't... Just Yahoo and DVD. It's really annoying when I can't even understand my spam!

I sort of hope that they drop the price so more will sell, but I spent $647.99 on my PS3. =(
Jeeves doesn't know. Jeeves does know, however, that American Idol and Britney Spears used to be the top search terms.

At least I was closer than saying it originated from Slashdot.
You do realize that "In Soviet Russia, x y's you!" came from Family Guy...
Anyways, it's true that some places are still sold out, but many places have an overstock.

Sadly, I agree. And I'm not kidding.
I realize that he was using sarcasm, but I really didn't understand what he was getting at.
No; I have no clue what you're referring to. Please inform me...

I'm going to be on a plane on the 8th... is that bad?
Here is the link to the Kubuntu DVD's: (torrents)
Link.
Yeah, they don't seem to be up yet. :( I am waiting for those. I won't even bother trying it out until I can burn a DVD.
" Would that mean if I used ReiserFS that I support murder?
....Supporting Microsoft is supporting murder. Remember Ballmer and his plans to "...fucking kill Google?" Fucking kill(tm)
Better than supporting Microsoft.
[kidding! kidding!]"
There is little reason to still be running SP1??? I hate SP2 with a passion. It's horrible.
My old website (not mine anymore) contains what my primary complaints are:
