    You can download a free version of ESX. It doesn't have all the HA and Vmotion features but it would be enough to get a home server setup.

    .22 is a little small, but a .223 is a little overkill for the raccoon on your porch. I'd go with a .38 spl, with a 4" barrel for the porch raccoons :)

    I publish spf records. But I don't check them for any incoming mail. I have seen some email rejected by spf checking. Last time was a internal contractor that had our domain's emails forwarded to godaddy hosted email. I would never reject mail based on an spf but I do publish if others if their dumb enough to reject mail.

    The new U-505 exhibit it outstanding! The tour maybe short but try to go on a weekday, I've been there several times and on the weekend the tour gets sold out very quickly (within a few hours) The rest of the exhibit is worth a lot of time too. All kinds of neat stuff. original torpedo cut away model. enigma machines on loan from the NSA. I spent 2:30 hours even before the tour started just looking around and reading all the information that's there.

    One of the best first Sifi books is The Illustrated Man, by Ray Bradbury.
    The stories are short and insightful and will make for great discussions in this age group. Although it was written in the early 50's the stories are (from what I remember) still very relevant with great social commentary.

    As an admin I can say that I don't give a rats ass about the data that's on the systems I maintain. I have access to just about everything in my company and I don't spend any time reading emails or trying to find valuable information. I just don't care what's the data contains. My job is to make sure it's available and protected. Unless you're in prono the admins will most likely never even look at your data.

    if it's so affluent get an alarm system that calls the cops (or bobbies, or whatever) when your house is broken into. options: 1) alarm system 2) big, mean dog 3) shot gun 4) neighborhood watch 5) a butler (like alfred from batman) that will make you tea and call the cops if burglars show up. ..... 2407367) chase google car out of the neighborhood becuase it's their fault you didn't do options 1-2407366.

    I don't think you could get the IOPs (or anywhere near) out of a pair of off the shelf 1u servers that they're advertising. I just checked dells website, their new AX4-5i (iscsi SAN) starts at over $14,000 and that only includes the 4x 750GB vault drives. Add 4x 1TB SATA drives (at $1,100 each) in a RAID 10 and you still wouldn't get the IOPs that Sun is talking about. This product looks to try and take a market share from the FC SAN vendors, not companies that want their in house geek to build a "cluster storage solution".

    I had this same problem. I already have a /24 from my ISP. when we went to our DR site to turn up the network I was told that they wouldn't accept the /26 for BGP and I had to get yet another /24 from them just to advertise both networks. so now I have 4 /24 address ranges. 2x at the corp office and one each at our Colo sites. I need a total of about 35 public addresses but I've been assigned over 1,000.

    but you can't buy a new latitude from dell. it's their business model and you have to give them a tax ID or something. all you can get new from dell is the glossy screen crap with huge silver buttons and different colored cases. :(-
