I'm sure it could work in Linux with enough work;)
I think this mouse is more of a novelty than a miracle. My computer already has the capacity to flash my Numlock, Capslock and Scrollock lights if I recieve an email or IM (I've only seen a few apps that take advantage of this), so a visual alert is readily available in most applications. It seems that Logitech is doing something very evolutionary here.
I've been happy with my Logitech dual optical mouse for over 3 years now, it's never failed me once, and it doesn't even check for new mail.
I'd gladly pay them $150-200 for one or even two of these. Getting $40-90 back on each sale here would certainly ease the debt that selling under price might get them in. Though, more storage space would be nice if we got a model like this in the 1st world. 10GB to 20 might be good to start, but how possible that is with solid state memory is questionable. It does have USB ports so a portable HDD/DVD drive is always an option.
I think the hand crank is nifty too, especially since battery life is always a pain.
We are? I've never seen a speed trap that wasn't a trooper running radar.
And I always speed 10-15 over (and keep a good eye out!), so I'd've been ticketed by now.
I really have to appreciate that the police presence doesn't deter me from speeding, but makes me a more conscious driver because I'm more prepared to break for them or other roadside dangers, and far more aware. I mean, you've gotta be when you're travelling an interstate US Route (not highway mind you) at 95 MPH;p
A cell company offered to pay a hefty sum per annum to build a tower at my high school, which would be really good because of all the extra dough the school would get, but they voted it down. For whatever reason.
My area still has no cell reception, unless youre on a mountain.
That's what I meant. Odd name, but they were the "republicans" (democrat here is of course just an adjective).
I almost mentioned jefferson in my post, but didn't want it to be much longer.
Oddly enough, most libertarians don't believe in majority rule. Well, we believe in it for some things, but the majority shouldnt be given power over every rule. For instance, freedom of speech is defined as a basic right, and the majority, even if it is 99%, should never be able to take that, and many other rights away from the 1% who want them.
We could see it, but for instance, a sphere in the 4th dimension would appear as a series of spheres, increasing in size, then decreasing.
For one in the 2nd dimension, a sphere appears as a series of circles, increasing in size, then decreasing.
We see in 2 dimensions, we can only see one face of everything.
One in the fourth dimension can see in 3 dimensions. In our universe, they would be able to analyze an entire 3 dimensional object in one glance, just as we are able to analyze an entire 2 dimensional object (such as a circle) in one glance, without moving it around.
I suppose that in the 4th dimension, people would only be able to see one "side" of a 4-dimensional object, but this sort of knowledge is far beyond the mental reach of any human being.
conservatives are right-wing socialists liberals are left-wing socialists statists are communists (totalitarian sort) libertarians are the old (18th century) kind of republicans.
If you look at his usage stats for the site (he posts them), then you see... not that many people visit fuddruckers' site everyday. I can't see why they would, unless it was to play the burger game:p
Write a small bittorrent client (there are plenty of libs out there, or for brownie points, write your own). Edgy, useful and you could even report on it to slashdot and start up a sourceforge project or something.
That or a SIP client. Voice chat is a big topic these days and you could peek at the source of projects like phonegaim to get insight for your own code.
Good luck. Those are 2 programs that I think would be useful, fun, not too hard and good for your resume!
Another reason to refuse to have a cell phone. Beside the irritating rining when you're doing something (driving, having a conversation, reading, having sex), people seem to think that cell phones MUST be answered, and ALWAYS pick up.
I don't need to be constantly "in touch." You can email me and I'll see it later on.
No. Since I create all the content in my notes (these are still high school notebooks), I'm able to mentally keep track of when and where the note I need to be. It says a lot about how little you pay attention if you're flipping through pages and pages of notes, unable to relate those at the beginning and end to what you're looking for..
Just think: Okay we studied X around mid september. It's now late november... Did that before it... that before it. Oh! Did that after, *go back a few pages* ah, there we go.
The Olympics has been overhyped and commercialized ad nauseum. It used to be a great spectacle, an actual sporting event. Now it's like a giant ad. I haven't watched it in several years. It's just lost its spirit.
I'm not paranoid. I don't delete my cookies... Opera keeps them for as long as they're set for. Opera also has powerful cookie management/filters.I like to just "stay logged in" to my favorite services. It's a lot easier than retyping a password, that I'd probably have to look up, every time I wanted to log in to a site. I don't do online banking, I'm not going to get my identity stolen and I don't have any spyware.
I refuse cookies from ad servers, and accept them from login servers (slashdot, forums, etc. -- not yahoo because they don't keep me logged in anyway).
Deleting cookies doesn't affect my performance or the stability of the application, so I only see how good they can be.
Exactly how is energy extracted from urine like this? What property of my pee is prone to chemically react?
At any rate, if I can get an electric car powered by this, I'll be set for life. Just use the money saved on each gallon of gas to buy 2 mountain dews (some human fuel)

And in 10 years, scientists "rediscover" dark matter once again.
Science just isn't definite these days, is it?

True, what if all his friends know him as John@companyname.com?
You'd like to ruin that for him?
This is like eminent domain for web sites, what you want.
Uh oh. I've got about 250 DVDs all of which are marked with either a red magic marker or a black laundry marker.
Welp, guess I better be looking into getting the good stuff back off of them.
The bible repeatedly condems fornication (I googled it: http://www.gotquestions.org/sex-before-marriage.ht ml)
I don't see it exactly defining what fornication is, but it's been defined as sex outside of marriage for quite a while now.
What marriage is, though, is never really defined.
I've unfortunately learned to avoid any computer peripherals that appeal to any senses other than hearing and seeing.
Touch, smell, taste, and vision of the dead just aren't ready for the mainstream yet.

It didnt exist in any capacity before, and they don't have to use the service. So no.
There's probably only 1 satellite provider in your area. Without them, there would be zero. You can still get DSL.
and forget to apply padding and border rules to the images! The horror!
Why would they make one anyway?
Because the people want it. I'd say most slashdotters are eagerly awaiting a google IM client.

I know I speak french.
I also live about 60 miles from the Quebec border, but that's just coincedence. I started learning French at school in Connecticut.

Yup, seems that's really how you spell it. The C must have a freedom accent on it.
