This past week if you were awake and outdoors and looked to the north. The aurora was observable in lower Michigan, I think last time this happened was in the late 1950s
I pissed off a bunch of chiefs in the chief's mess in the early 80s with this. "In 30 years the Main difference between the USSR and the US will be in USSR you speak Russian and the US maybe you will speak English. We are becoming more like them and they are becoming more like us."
But I do think we are still in the lead when it comes to the number of 3 letter agencies.
Does this I mean I should sell my Movado Museum on E-bay while I can get something for it ? The battery in it only lasts 10 years. I have to send it back to Movado to have it cleaned & serviced anyway. At least it won't need a software upgrade. It is 20 years old maybe I should a new daily driver.
I believe it because for 2 reasons. comcast/time warner is the telephone company and they don't have to provide stellar service. How would the NSA keep up with monitoring of the increased traffic ?
It is more like this: You have the right to work without union scale pay, bennys, OSHA regs, paid vacations, overtime over 8 hrs per day, 40 hours per or overtime even get 40 hours pay per week and if you think you will get unemployment. We will just fire you when the job is done because we paid off the the state legislature and they changed the rules so we can do that. By the way that means you don't get enemployment . God luck finding the next job. aka Texas rules in the the heavy construction industry. Been there and yes it sucks, but not for the owners. Really how many HR clowns are going to believe you got fired because the job ended ?
The main reason the the Teamsters had to be taken down is the pension fund. Oh looky there they loaned $500,000 of the fund to union pres. X. Never mind it is at current bank rates & not in default, we will prosecute. So in 1979 who was one the biggest investors in Wall Street ? Teamsters.
I kinda surmise after observing multiple employers, that the bottom rungs of the corporate ladder are as follows.
a. The supervisor has to be smart enough to read.
b. Listen to instructions, but not understand the true function of the instructions.
c. Greedy enough to believe every thing the employer promises.
d. If the employer suspects he may have figured it out, he is fired. So your best is track to keep your self riding the fence between stupid and smart.
e. Rememberr you were hired to do a job, not get promoted into the job you would like.
f. You are expendable.
g. Nothing has changed since Ernestine (Lily Tomlin) was on Laugh-in.
POS does not need the latest and greatest to function. Those based on that usually interface with a windows server. Power adds up. The newer ones are touch screen. That usually is configured to only work when the GUI is up. Slower CPUs and enough memory are all that is neede to get the job done. You don't need a browser, word processor, pointing device, keyboard and other apps running. But you do need a MS license for each one sold unless your have a linux gurus in your service deptpartment.
They may be think like me, da? Russia needs to keep a close eye on ISIS. If that crap spreads to Turkey they may just be crazy enough redo the Ottoman empire?
Whenever you are purchasing a service you are an employer. Most companies don't get this concept. So pack your crumcast equipment. Take it to their local office and GET a receipt. 85% of the people are all worried about their credit report. MOST Service providers use this as a tool to keep you inline. There are those who don't care about this. These people have enough cash and/or the good sense to only buy what you can pay cash for. If you add up all the principle + interest you gave up for all those have it now things, you would realize you could have bought 2 of each if you used the same amount of cash. It's like a casino if you don't like the rules don't go in.
If you have ever lived in a dry county. I have. There 3 types of people who wish to keep it dry. Law enforcement, clergy and the bootlegger. The bootlegger is often known for his generosity to the campaigns and pulpits. Drugs are commodities. Commodities that rival oil and food in the amount of money used purchase by US consumption.
When the state of California calls out the National Guard for fires, earthquakes & riots. The state treasury supplies the funding for the the guard. The federal government only comes into the funding when martial law is invoked. Camp San Luis Obispo is state property, state funded. Camp Roberts is federal. The people stationed on these bases are AGR federal. When the guard is activated for a state emergency, the AGR are taken off the federal payroll and placed on the state payroll. When martial law is declared they go back on federal payroll under a different title.
I retired last year. Worked many different jobs. A lot were boring or just a too stupid way to bring a paycheck home. Have 2 small pensions & SSI. When I get bored. I ride the bus. Riding the bus in Detroit beats watching daytime Springer & the Springer clones.
If the plug does not come out cleanly taking the thread material with it. Then it needs to be bored and thread inserts installed. If you are lucky the block and head are still flat. happens often enough that kits are available for this purpose.
Old plug frozen in the alumininum head. Top spins off and leaves the bottom stuck in the head. The only way get it off is to remove the head or force it out and risk having the pieces of porcelin drop into the cylinder.
It was called Diamler/Chrysler. They bought Chrysler with cash money they didn't have or so they said to the German government the years before. A Miracle happened and they found some loose cash. Side effect, the Dodge Sprinter replaced the Dodge Ram 1500/2500 Van. Chrysler was stuck with relabeling for a while. Chrysler is finally back in the cargo van business and about to stop making the FWD purse hauling van.
A "B" UAW employee is a bargain compared to a Japanese auto worker. But not as good a bargain non-union worker. So why do make them in the good olde confederate states in the US of A ? Because it is cheaper silly. Plus they actually believe that VW, Toyota and others would make them SUV and automobiles vehicles somewhere else. They would but there is thing about paying import tax that makes it more expensive. Shush, don't them redneck crackers know this! They might ask for higher wages and heaven forbid benefits. You know what I mean Vern?

I used to think "Idiocracy" was just a funny movie. Now it seems to more as a harbinger.

I saw one of those today. She was in a over sized motor chair and it was straining making the transition from the street to the sidewalk.

Are you knocking my Abrams tour bus, again. 5 liters per klick is OK.
Actually where the owners want to lead us in the U.S. is back to the '80s. The 1880s. Anybody want to build a railroad in the Sierra mountains ?

The US is so wound up with convoluted politically correct agendas it can't figure out what is correct after the political part is satisfied.

My watch spends months in the drawer now that I am retired.

The N. American operation made a profit. Pretty much because of the the Ram 1500/2500/3500 sales.
