Ever since 2002/2001, I've had location aware phones: the Samsung a500, a600, and now th LG LX550 (Fusic). It has taken three successive generations of supposedly 3G phones to finally get location aware applications.
Fuck, I only just now am getting them on my Fusic. I've wanted to know where the nearest ATM is, and how to get there WITHOUT ENTERING MY LOCATION MANUALLY, I've wanted to get turn by turn directions WITHOUT ENTERING MY LOCATION MANUALLY, I've wanted to see if I'm at the right coffee shop to meet some one, but only NOW, 6 years after I was promised the ability, do I actually have it!
If only more people had SDKs for phones and were developing such applications...I've scoured the web for six years and only just now have I begun to find any, and their either officially sponsored by the cell service providers or Google! Where are the 3rd party apps? The independent apps? Where are all the network operator apps they promised me?
No matter what the product, Chinese manufacturers will always cut every corner they can.

name me please just one pda where you get operating system updates directly from the operating system vendor and not from the device manufacturer. PalmOS.
I've been sorely disappointed by each version of Windows CE/CE.net/Mobile. I've got many gripes including battery life, locking up when the battery runs down, losing everything when the battery runs down, wifi issues, inability to play video despite 400 MHz ARM processors, no upgrades to the OS are available to consumers, features are tied to OS upgrades... Windows PDAs stink for all those reasons!
It's not in their best interest for Comcast to interfere with BitTorrent activity, nor is it within their rights.
As a Comcast BitTorrent user, Comcast is impersonating me by sending RST (reset packets) as me. They are deceiving the computers I am connected to by forging the source of the RST packets, saying they come from me. I have suffered damages where I can't share files via BitTorrent, though I've paid for the privilege of exchanging data on the internet. Shouldn't I be entitled to relief and punitive damages? Indeed, shouldn't all Comcast BitTorrent users?
Isn't disruption of computer use and/or services and/or networks criminal in the US? My communication with non-Comcast networks is being disrupted!
Computers on the internet aren't just clients, they must also be servers. Today's internet could not exist without this model; Blizzard could't distribute WoW patches, Joost couldn't work, video games couldn't work.
I imagine Comcast would say that the ToS would prohibit server activities, but as the reader sees, if server activities were prohibited, Comcast would eliminate most of the reasons for internet use and they'd lose their internet service revenue stream.
Have any Slashdotters had issues? AnandTech mentions issues users have them since November:
Since the launch, most of the focus surrounding the 680i chipset changed from its impressive performance and flexibility to problems that seemed to plague the reference board designs from the launch partners such as EVGA and BFG and later on with in-house designs from ASUS and abit. These problems centered on audio issues when using SLI, as well as data corruption or severe performance loss when utilizing SATA drives on the reference boards. However, AnandTech does go on to say some issues have been solved:
The audio issues were solved with a quick BIOS update...Several BIOS releases later and it seems as if the majority of data corruption issues with the reference boards have been cured. This sounds like a sweet silent PC or over-clocked PC board if it's stable now.

Let's get it out there so I and others can peaceably let him know what we think of his sick pet project. I don't want to be under surveillance 24/7 when I visit the Big Apple. This is sick. It's like having thought police.
...used to be my favorite store front end. Reasonably fast, nice user interface. Good sorting of my music and Yahoo's. Then it got fuxored and became jukebox or some shit and that's when it began pestering me to buy crap when I WAS ALREADY PAYING for Y! Music Unlimited. The endless stream of mandatory updates that made it slower, less functional, more naggy and more crash prone really turned me off.
Way to take Y! Music Unlimited which I chose over Napster and Rhapsody as my MS Windows music store for the reasons mentioned above and fuck it all up, Yahoo.
I bet someone can beat MS at their own game, and do this for 1 grand.
I also dare the F/OSS community to create the software for this feat that works with an existing touch interface.
I read an article in a software dev mag that the developers purchased dozens of guitars and used them to make the game. It wasn't till nearly when the game went gold did they have a custom manufactured guitar to go with the game. So red ocatane has nothing new. No damages warranted.
However, TAC's packaging features a font quite similar to Guitar Hero's packaging. Is that enough for damages?
As a follow up I wonder why Zonk chose that press release? It did name the California law that apply to the suit, whereas the AP article didn't, but it's still basically a dirty ad! I thought this was news for nerds, not links to ads...
I agree that the linked article is worthless. In fact, my story submission linked to a copy of the actual Associated Press article but for some reason Zonk chose to link to that Press Release advertisement.
There are people working towards this. You are not alone. The prinicple is not to overthrow the government, but to render it obsolete. People need to be offered a better solution. Modern communications technology makes this more and more plausible for larger groups of people.
Why not save me the time and hassle of calling support? Where a company expects to handsomely profit from support, that business model sucks for the user!
Damn NET Backup and Backup Exec. I had to do so many things that were secret and only known by (higher level) sopport agents to keep those applications running smoothly that I still fell burned. Why not build these command line program's functionality into the program?! Deleting orphan files and maintaining the catalog is subtle and harder than it should be!/rant
Can some fellow/.'s recomend a webcam software that can stream to mutiple users (not just on a subnet or internal network) and has good authentication to prevent unauthorised viewing of the streams?
Your idea of two copies is a good solution to tampering problems. I think recording interactions is a good idea. I am on the fence, however, whether or not it's worth funding with taxes. Would a Free State Project member or libertarian oppose such a government service? What sort of person (idealogicaly speaking) would support such a service?
What if the recordings were clandestinely tampered with (editied, lost, damaged, what have you) while people (judges, jury) assume that the recordings are tamper proof?
Then you have people (judges, jury) that believe the police have indispuatble, but actually compromised, evidence! The judge or jury could then wrongly convict!
OTOH, am I reaching too far? Is this a reasonable concern? Because...
Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid?
Or am I just...
The fifth item of 108, a 23 lumen LED projector from Samsung is worthless. I would much rather have the monochrome laser projector from Light Blue Optics, mentioned before, I think on/. From the editorial at Audioholics:
"Understand that there is no glass, no prisms, NO MOVING PARTS, and no need for fans to provide heat dissipation. In addition, it runs on less than 1.5W at full power and less than 350mW while displaying typical video images (50% average pixel amplitude. There is also an infinite focus, meaning that no matter how close or far away, there are no optics to adjust for a clear picture"
It's more legible than the Samsung, uses less power, is smaller, and has INFINITE focus. It is however, just monochrome, but I would still enjoy an anywhere projector like that. I could use it for displaying video, cell phone video chat, pictures, movies, ads, reading... I want one!

Finally! I was worried that Google maps with GPS would be exclusive to Helio, and I was beginning to begrudge Google for the apparent exclusivity.
I choose not to shop at Walmart so as to not directly and indirectly encourage manufacturers to cut corners.

Three years ago, I bought a half-height PCI video card with a Radeon chipset with 256 MB of on-board (dedicated)RAM.
The PS3 uses SATA hard drives. So ignore those prices, they are for PATA-6 drives.
