Cause of Death: After Taco's death, his 6 year-old nephew took over the site. Most of the articles were about farts and dodgeball. Popularity went through the roof, but the kid forgot to renew the domain. Microsoft bought it and turned it into a site where people could post tributes to Windows Genuine Advantage.

    Founder: Taco Bell

    Most well-known product(s): Ascii art

Why we miss them: Because Digg was just bought by the Microsofties

  3. Re:Average user? on Ubuntu Continues to Grab Market Share · · Score: 1

What does average user even mean? For the average Windows user, I'd say Ubuntu would be the best for them without hesitation. For the average Linux user, the question becomes trickier. I don't know that there is a well-defined "average Linux user". Based on the stats, I would say the average (norm) Linux user is an Ubuntu user. Since the average Linux user is already using Ubuntu, it stands to (circular) reasoning that Ubuntu is best for the average Linux user. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I hated when they used the term DOS for the Mozilla crashes, I hate when the use it for Microsoft desktop applications. Just say you found a way to crash the program. Woo hoo! It doesn't sound as serious as DOS, but it is more accurate. Leave DOS for server attacks that clog a network, or prevent a server from being accessed. But entering in Chinese unicode characters into a shareware text editor that causes it to crash is not a DOS attack. PUH-lease!

Change the disk in bios from LBA to Large or Normal, install OS and let grub be installed. After install, you can switch back to LBA. This only seems to affect debian-based OS's with grub. I think it has something to do with the bios incorrectly reporting the disk size.
