with all the millions of spare parts (warehouses filled with PII chips) in the world do third workd countries really need to settle for custom stripped down machines when they could build full machines that are a few generation out of date for about the same price...
there must be loads of inventory that companies would love to have a tex-efficient way of getting rid of...
nice that there's another release for all those who prefer not to grab the nightly builds... the speed with which bugs are fixed is nothing short of impressive...
do you really have to evolve into a security company in order to ensure that your products are secure... isn't it a fair expectation that when you buy an expensive router etc. that it won't have enormous flaws that allow for numerous exploits? regardless of who you buy it from?
i don't see how getting windows to do less out of the box is good for competition... the people who are not savvy enough to uninstall wmp and add a third party player may not be able to figure out how to get their music to play on windows without calling for support... allowing the user to excude (during installation) wmp, ie, paint, notepad, or whatever app you don't fancy is a much better route. If users don't want to be "forced" to use microsoft applications they should step away from the windows box...
it's interesting to see that companies with sensitive information still don't realize that all the fancy tech gizmos in the world won't stop someone from walking off with your box...

debian can't win on price in china... you can pick up a copy of xp for about the price of a blank cd, so it'll have to win on it's other merits...
are the going to announce the names of the people that they are suing during the show... that's one way they could get me to watch...
