I used this to troubleshoot our servers a while back. I don't claim to know hardly anything at all about DNS, which is why this tool was so useful for me. I figured out that I had a lot of problems related to my slave updates.
Is it possible these larger DNS servers are updating based on the refresh/expire values instead of the TTL?
I don't know whats up with my ISP, their DNS servers go down quite frequently, probably some jerks playing DoS war, I use a high quality ISP in the area for secondary DNS, never have any problems. I would set up a named server on my network but named is such a bastard to configure, for me anyways.
Seems to me this is just a public relations stunt. NORAD was initially formed during the cold war as a quick response system to scramble fighter jets in case a russian bogey entered our airspace. They never had the opportunity to truly flex those abilities up until 9/11, during which they had fighter jets up in the air pretty quick, too bad they flew out over the ocean and flew in circles. So now I guess they've found something they're good at, shining LAZERS (!) at small aircraft.
Seems to me they could shut NORAD down, let the national guard do its job, and the FAA should monitor restricted airspace.
Funny thing is, this is called price discrimination among economists, and it is characteristic of a monopoly. With this, Microsoft leans ever closer to being a pure monopoly.
The only show on MTV that draws my attention is cribs, and then after a while I find myself cursing at the tv, cursing god and cursing my mass produced crap hole of a house. Why can't I come home to Jessica Simpson sun bathing in the pristine pool in our backyard? Bad for the soul I tell you.
Reminds me of Tyan's tech support. I bought 4 of the S2510 dual pentium 3 motherboards and they weren't stable, I sent all 4 motherboards back 3 times total, each time they would send me a replacement that did the exact same thing, although sometimes they would work for a short while upon return (which is why I kept sending them back). The whole time they were telling me it was crashing because I was using linux, which I wasn't ready to accept. One guy told me I needed better cooling, I asked if the three mini squirrel cage fans in the 1U case were enough (better cooling than any computer I've ever had) he says no I need "more fans". Last Tyan motherboard I ever bought.
What's this guys point? Is he saying the private sector is more expensive than the public sector? That's nonsense. Ask someone in Canada what they think of canadian health care. They pay half their income away in taxes and they still have to come down to America for decent quality health care. Better yet, why don't you just move to Canada and experience it first hand. Just because its public doesn't mean its free.:)
I think its pretty funny you consider some hospital nurses testimony, who lost her job for informing the police of this guy, to be bullshit, while at the same time you believe this piece of shit of a human being for everything he says, all of which is heresay, most of it has no rational foundation. A woman calling the police before any controversy is plenty reason to believe that there is some truth to it. If there had been a jury trial, things would have turned out differently.
Also funny that you comment on the bitter dispute over share of the settlement money. It proves that Michael Schiavo was motivated by money, which is why he wanted her to die. The parents wanted the money spent on rehabilitation, they wanted him to date other women and move on with his life, but see he couldn't do that, he had to both date other women AND put his ex-wife to death so that he could move on with a load of cash. He wouldn't allow ANY rehabilitation, that's a documented fact.
Funny that you ignore half of my comments, like the loch of hair and burning her body and melting her ring. Think about the significance of that, you fucking moron.
He doesn't have to put his stinking life on pause at all, he could have moved on without his settlement money. The parents would have cared for her. If you think this turned out the way it should have, you're a twisted piece of scum. She could have been speaking by now. If some damn cameras were allowed in there I think the case could have been made that she was capable of speaking when she died. Those parents wanted the world to see her true condition. That is not vegetative state, she was concious, alert, and reacted to human contact. I've played with retarded children who were in a worse state than she was, they had every reason in the world to live, and their parents loved them. I'd really like to hear your humanistic rationale for thinking this turned out right. Do you think people who can't take care of themselves should all be killed?
If she wanted to die she would have made out a written will, or at the very least a "do not resuscitate" sticker on her drivers license. No I think she wanted to live, like her parents say. She was a fucking catholic, she went to church her whole life. You think she wouldn't have wanted a catholic funeral? Michael Schiavo had so many conflicts of interest here, it is totally absurd to think that any judge could just pass this case off without taking a second glance at it. You're the one with your head up your ass, fucking moron. I took a look at your journal, funny... it's like your whole life is devoted to the democratic party and their unprincipled ideals. You call this "right to die", I call it murder. I'm amused that you're upset when a republican ruled congress moves to pass legislative action for the good of society. "They're taking my rights away! Ahhhh! I need the right to kill my disabled partner! Ahhh!" You're a fucking joke. I can't believe anyone would actually argue this guys case, but here you are! *laugh*
Damn morons, trolling around in dead posts. Do you even know what you're talking about? Do you know what a living will is? It is an official document that expresses to what extent you want doctors to keep you alive. If she didn't want to live like that, she would have made a written will. I can't believe I have to fucking educate idiots like you on current events.
Did you know he wouldn't let the parents into the room as she died? Did you know he has been married to another woman with and has children? Did you know he melted down her ring shortly after she died? Did you know the parents wanted a loch of her hair before he burned her corpse to ashes and he wouldn't allow that either? Did you know he stands to gain millions of dollars from this? Did you know there is testimony from hospital nurses that he may have tried to kill her, called her a "bitch" as she lay crippled on one occasion? This same nurse called the police over this?
Do you even know what you're talking about? You're a fucking idiot! Call me a moron and back it up with a load of complete bullshit. My god you're an idiot. You look like a damn 12 year old kid, no you're probably just a really stupid 16 year old kid.
whew, I wouldn't hand a $250 toy to a 1.5 year old barf-o-matic, hehe. The compression is great, I'm glad it supports mpeg4, its those proprietary sony memory sticks that bug me. SD cards are where its at right now.
One useful hack would be a sony memory stick to secure digital converter, I have 3 gigs of SD cards laying around I could be loading movies onto. The mpeg4 feature of the PSP is no use to me if I have to go out and buy a bunch of sony memory in order to do it, my 1GB SD card would be perfect (probably faster too).
I've been trying to program a bipedal robot to learn how to walk on two feet with active sensing, rather than passive. Everything I've ever seen has been purely passive, like that honda robot. Actually the project has stagnated for the last few months, but if you want to see how hard it is, build This Kit, hook the servos up to a microcontroller along with some piezo gyros and have at it. It's damn hard, I learned fairly quick. Sensing what is going on is near impossible, humans are good at it because we've got a billion sensors all over us.
I bet this guy is afraid of doing anything "active" since its likely to destroy the entire thing.
"Goliath" is no match for "wedgie", ever, unless "Goliath" has a rocket launcher and lasers, which is what those japanese anime have always been about, right? I never understood the robot with the railgun, and why he didn't fall over more often.
LOL, nice, a smalltalk developer speaks up. LOL!!!
I looked at this seaside homepage, looks interesting, I've always liked the concept of programatic HTML generation, I'd like to see this sort of stuff ported over to ruby, I f***** hate writing HTML, and I hate dreamweaver and all those wysiwyg editors, I'd like to create inheritable structures and stuff...
Very doable in rails. Rails is a pretty new framework and stuff is constantly being added. I aint switching over to no smalltalk framework, smalltalk has been around for what, 20 years, and its still struggling for acceptance, I want something with momentum, you know? Rails has definately got momentum.
Well by trying it out it sounds like you spent about 10 minutes with it. It's the ruby language itself that makes rails so efficient, and you need to spend some time with ruby to get the hang of the ruby way of doing things. Take the xml builder class and compare it to java's DOM style XML generation techniques:
builder = Builder::XmlMarkup.new xml = builder.person { |b| b.name("Jim"); b.phone("555-1234") } xml #=> <person><name>Jim</name><phone>555-1234</phone></p erson>
I wrote a custom XML api for the ebay API in no time using this package. SOAP would have been MUCH more work.
Dude, you have no idea, why are you even commenting? Do you just comment because you have nothing better to do? You're a troll... where are my mod points when I need them?
I would agree with this. I moved away from Perl because I didn't like the language, CPAN was nice but the problem I had is that everything on CPAN was written in Perl. Typically when I convert my old perl code to ruby it ends up being anywhere from 10-50% the length of the perl code, so given the choice between converting code to ruby by hand or using some old perl library, I tend to go for the ruby effort.
I don't know what to think about Parrot, it'll probably make sense to use language independent technologies and get unified drivers and stuff like that, but I dont intend to use any other languages, I *really* *really* like ruby's syntax.
Democrats on the other hand are promoting states rights and small government because frankly they don't like what the government is doing to them.
What do you mean by this? Give examples. Things that matter to me right now are the public health care and the democrats opposition to private accounts, there was some talk among the republicans in congress about eliminating the IRS, all of which sound like efforts to reduce the fed. I'm not aware of any issues right now where the democrats are advocating states rights.
I don't know, nor do I care. Right now I see Republicans as a problem, primarily because of things lik the Schiavo case. I don't think Democrats would be better in a majority.
Well, not all democrats are atheist, and not all atheists think putting Terri Schiavo to death is the right thing to do. I think it has more to do with civil rights than the sanctity of life issue, personally. I also think democrats are divided on this, some would agree with me.
I've been republican (closet libertarian) for a long time now, waiting for the democratic party to shape into something meaningful before I consider a vote for a democrat, but now it appears they're taking a turn for the worst. Hilary comes out against GTA but not this Terri Schiavo thing, she's definately going down the wrong alley here.
Honestly, I'd like to see the civil liberties thing catch on with the Democrats, I think they should come out and decry this Terri Schiavo thing. It has a lot to do with civil liberties also.
I asked this in a "political science" class a few weeks ago, "for being the only party to maintain the same name and constituents, for the most part, throughout the evolution of the USA, what is a common theme with the democrats for the whole time?" The teacher said there was none, it has stood for different issues along the way, but a few students wanted to argue that the democrats have always stood for "states rights", which is a non-issue in this day and age I think. Perhaps in the Jeffersonian era they were all about states rights, and then post civil war, but I argued that states rights haven't really mattered for the serious issues recently, the issues always ends up in the federal law. I'm still unaware of any common theme the democrats stand for. In my opinion republicans have always been for smaller government, although I'm not so sure about that anymore. Give me (try to, anyway) private accounts but raise my income taxes (inevitably) to pay for a massive war?
Now we have Hilary, nobody knows what she's going to scream about next.
My adobe reader on windows is messed up. Whenever I click a PDF link it locks up, the process is running but doesn't do anything. I have to kill firefox, so if I'm searching google I often accidentally click a PDF document and I have to write down all the pages I'm at, and if the address bar is not visible (minimized) I am SOL. I tried reinstalling adobe reader and it worked.... once. After I close reader it wont open again, even if I reboot, so it seems to be something wrong with the reader software itself. Now I keep it uninstalled, and if I want to view a PDF document I have to install it, view it and uninstall it again. Most annoying software ever. I would use an alternative on my linux machines.
You incorporate the DRM into the software itself. Simple as that. If they have the capability to take the "non-disclosure" into their own hands, then they are obligated to. How many developers are there? 10,000? that is a pretty huge anonymous group of people on the inernet IMO. The guy was honest enough to use his real identity.
And if someone breaks their software, that is certainly a violation of the law. Giving your buddy a copy of some software aught not be a crime unless you have to go out of your way to hack the softwares copy protection out. I could give my friend my copy of half-life but he would be using my license key, if he gave that out to everyone on the net, I can say goodbye to my license. Is valve software going to sick their lawyers on me for that? No. Thats how it should be.
They aren't less evil than anyone who hires a bunch of intimidating lawyers rather than incorporate some SIMPLE, SIMPLE copy protection! Speaking of less evil, when is the last time Microsoft sued someone for installing their copy of windows on more than one machine? They even support pirated copies with service packs.
It just sickens me that you are all saying "bravo apple! bravo! screw an honest guy over for a being a sucker!" See the people that should really be prosecuted don't get caught.

Nevermind that the most successful graduates majored in "Communism"
Seems to me they could shut NORAD down, let the national guard do its job, and the FAA should monitor restricted airspace.
