I once convinced our former receptionist that God was talking to her through her computer by turning on the Windows messaging service on her computer. Result: hilarity.
Unfortunately, at my high school the "gifted and talented" program meant taking special small classes of 10 in.... English and Social Studies. Ugh. There was no gifted math or science classes. I was bored out of my mind and none of us really gave a damn about English class. The only other gifted class offered eventually was music, which was great being that there were 3 of us and we were some of the best musicians in the school.
The special small gifted classes are pretty worthless if they're still only classes that don't interest you.
Dude, no one really gives a shit who sells more of what. No one honestly cares about the history of this console or that company. It's either fun to play or not. That's what people give a shit about. Holy shit dude, what's your problem?
Since my 360 has been fine for over 3 years with nary a problem in sight, I have to wonder that if someone has gone through 6 of them in the space of a year... maybe it's them?! I suppose it's not impossible that your friend has luck that shitty, but I do have to say that the odds seem to be against it. I just find it really hard to believe that 6 different machines died just sitting there. With that in mind, I then I have to wonder how much of that 50% fail rate is due to actual defects (which I'm sure is nowhere near a trivial number) and how many are due to abuse, improper use or positioning, etc. and blamed on "defects". I'm not trying to be some kind of MS apologist or anything, I just find that kind of failure rate due to defects to be a little implausible.
Please mod parent up as insightful. Too many people decry technology as destroying people's chances at "being social" while not realizing that it's only enabling new methods of being social that weren't previously available. Just because it doesn't fit some people's preconceived notions of what "socializing" is doesn't mean that it isn't.
Gotcha, thanks. I hardly ever play TF2, so it's no wonder I missed stuff like this. Even still, that's only one game of the Orange Box, it would hardly qualify it for "passably mediocre" compared to the PC in my opinion, but to each his own.:)
Can you explain some of the differences that make The Orange Box only "passably mediocre" for the 360 to horrible for the PS3? I've throughly enjoyed The Orange Box on my 360 and really have no complaints at all about it, but I haven't tried it on a PC or PS3, so I'm curious as to what you think makes the difference. Obviously, I can see that the ability to load user maps and mods is one difference, but I'd say that's more of a difference of the nature of the platform rather than the port itself.
I'm genuinely curious as to the differences that make the PC version superior, in your opinion.
If I could check one out, I would. I'm currently playing a Kurzweil PC3X and Yamaha Motif ES for my 80's cover band, but I also have a Kurzweil K2661 at home, and I have an old Korg Triton classic back at my parents'. I suppose I should sell that one.:-\ Too many keyboards, not enough room.:(
Of course guns are designed to kill. The problem is people want to keep law-abiding citizens from having them to protect themselves. Criminals, by definition, don't obey the law. If they want a gun, they're going to get one. It doesn't make much difference to them if it's illegal or not. By making it more difficult for the rest of us to defend ourselves, you're simply creating a society of easy targets. Which house would you rather break into to rob: the one you know doesn't have a gun, or the one that might get you blown away before you get all of your leg through the window?
I'm the same, I've never had a credit card and the only lines of credit I've carried were student loans and car loans. My "un-American" comment was just a joke, although sadly it seems a true one.:-\
You could say the same thing about all technology. I don't see you living in a cave. I mean, we did fine there for 2.9 million years didn't we? I guess we should just halt all progress but where we are now is just good enough isn't it?
You're assuming first that a god exists to have this power taken away from him. You're also assuming there's a single god. You're probably also assuming that it's your god. And that it's actually him/her/it exercising this power. Maybe this god that you posit to exist doesn't have anything to do with death at all. Etc, etc.
We don't know for sure how the brain operates or what suffices for "activity". It *may* be related to the electrochemical signals we can read with EEG machines, it might not.
You've got to be fucking kidding me! That's the most ridiculous argument I've ever heard. We can't trust any of our brainscans and EEG readings because the brain might work thanks to a non-material soul or spirit that can't be detected, ever, in principle? How about we base our ethical decisions on what we do know for now rather than someone's bullshit made up ideas from their Holy Books?
That's called "making a profit", something business are supposed to do. $40 for your used game is better than zero. If you don't like their business model, don't fucking sell them your games, put it on Ebay for $55 and see if you can get that.
You have fun running all those EXE files that you're downloading from strangers, let us know how that works out for you if you can still access the internet or anything else on your box afterwards.;)
Can't argue with that!

Just think how much the Catholic church is raking in for basically the same thing...
What. The. Fuck. !.

Think of the alphabet!

That's fucking awesome. Got any pictures of that?

Damn, now you've got me starting to worry about the chick who gave me a picture of her tits and kept winking and smiling at me at my gig on Friday. :-\
It's a simple-stupid, logical argument.

Maybe you could just, ya know.... say no and not participate? I guess that would be un-American though, wouldn't it? :-\
The mouse body missing the head is not a "present", it's a warning....
