    Sounds like it, although not too many details have been put out. It looks like they were already agreed to be part of the Sony-run online site, so I would guess they were at least under a contract there.

    I was really interested until I found out this was a fixed-position "hand" and not an actual robot arm. I thought they had built one of those hand-eye coordination robots that could catch balls faster than the ones that catch them being tossed. Oh well. To me, this seems more like just a mechanical trap with an optical switch.

    As if we haven't thought of this already, folks. I mean, come on. The Russians put up a satellite to watch us, we know about it, they deny it, so what do we do? Well, we could either ignore it and censor it, like we do the Russian spies in the Capital...Or we -could- blow it up. The Russian's aren't going to protest us blowing up their spy satellite because complaining about it would admit that they're doing it. It's an implied neutrality.

    And besides, what do we really need advanced tech for? We've been able to crash satellites into other satellites (intentionally or not) for a while now.

    What I'm saying is that MS has done nothing for years, and now that they're finally doing something, all people can do is the same ol' shit they always do...bash bash bash. It's pathetic.     "throwing out their machine and buying a new one" - is the method used by the immature, idiotic, or gullible-bandwagon-follower.

    I deal with people having problems with their machines all the time (through tech forums, work, etc). Well over 90-percent of the things people flip out about...aren't really problems, they've just got something set wrong (because they didn't bother reading the instructions) or some other minor reason.

    While I'm not in any way claiming Windows is perfect, it is not nearly as bad as all the propaganda and bashers would have people believe with their brainless rants.

    The Book of Genesis on states, basically, that God created Adam.

    If you'll note, it does not say anywhere that God only created life on Earth. It also doesn't say that Adam was it.

    And also, the story only says that God created life. It doesn't say "God created all the universe but only put life on Earth".

    So finding life on other worlds is not ruled out. And besides, even if we did find some martians under a rock somewhere, and they had their own religion, why would it be any different from the people on Earth who have other religions?

    Unless it says somewhere that the colors in the photo are faithful renditions, I wouldn't get to fixed on examining the colors to derive possibilities of matter. Even if the colors were faithful, there's a thousand ways to explain colors seen on ice.

    Without going into length, I think the poster both has little understanding in the amount of progress that can be made in just 10 years, the difficulties and politics involved that have lead to the current state of the space program, and, oh yeah, no understanding of any of the work done regarding getting to Mars.

    BTW, the technical docs and whitepapers on the Microsoft site offer a lot more details on the ins and outs than the linked reviews. Nice note in there about the fixes to CSS support, and how IE will finally support PNG transparency.

    IE-7 is imperfect, but it's beta, and it's coming from a history of an imperfect browser. There's a lot to fix and not a lot of time to do it.

    Anyway, anyone who's expecting 100-percent gold results, especially at this stage, is a damn fool. Sorry, no browser is perfect. Any progress is good progress and late progress is better than no progress at all. (It's also not that bright to base your marketing campaign on comparing your browser to IE6, which everyone knows is OLD AND OUTDATED.

    Of course there's always gonna be some anal basher-zombies and their troll supporters who are blind to anything but the fact that this thread has the word "Microsoft" in it and thus use it as a repository for anti-MS propaganda. The years of stagnation have created quite a froth of copy-cat minions.

    As usual, the sane among us will have to find our digital "ear-plugs" and work with the facts. If MS is finally going to put in the effort to try and fix their problems, they deserve at least a faithful listen to see what is there.

    Seems like they're hitting on a lot of useful stuff. Complaining about the time it took is fruitless. Complaining about the UI is the same. First off, it's beta. No one in their right mind expects beta releases to be pretty. Second off, the more talented surfers among us have learned the more efficient way of using shortcut keys to handle the (never within reach) icons. The tabs look fine to me, but whatever. I like the middle-mouse button feature, though a one-click method would be nicer.

    Now, there's probably a crapload of trolls out there who are ready to pounce with the "their phishing/virus protection won't stop everything" crap. Honestly, nothing does. And furthermore, it's nice to see MS addressing these security problems rather than ignoring them.

    I wouldn't be surprised if this thread gets crammed full of anti-MS bashers who won't even look at or honestly view IE-7. Whatever.

    PS - Read this post quickly for it'll be gone soon. It doesn't bash Microsoft, and that's bad.

    Alright, so IE-7 is finally becoming a reality. After FAR too long of a wait for a true update to their browser, MS is updating, and from what can be seen so far, they are mostly listening to demands.

    It's cloogy, but jesus christ, it's beta!

    Anyway, anyone who's expecting 100-percent gold results, especially at this stage, is a damn fool that needs a wake-up call from reality. Any progress is good progress and late progress is better than no progress at all.

    Aside from the fact that it's completely idiotic for javascript to be able to executed from the address bar...I'm surprised that, given that the developers for MS (should) have an intimate knowledge of the functions of their software and what is being affected by their security lockdown, why in the heck didn't they figure this out beforehand?

    And while it is bad that this can be cracked, up until the little link to the explanation of how to do the crack, 99-percent of the Windows users would have had no clue how to do this. Now they all know. Wonderful. A problem with a small crisis potential is now a problem across the board, making the need for a resolution a thousand times more urgent than it was before. No wonder MS is so freaking anal and tight about its problems.

    In the end, it's just not that big of a deal. The process is simple, and almost entirely automated. If you've got an internet connection, you almost always can just authenticate online. Either way, it's really not that big of a deal and the only people that think it is are either impatient folks who need to grow up, or idiots who intentionally try to make things hard.

    Sometimes it's advantages for MS to overlook things, such as this piracy issue with some companies. The point being, if said company is buying a crap-load of software from MS, or is providing some other big-enough benifit to MS, they may be persuaded to "overlook" discrepencies in licensing issues. This is kind of the same with other companies going "Ah, so they're late on their maintenance...they have 40-thousand seats so we can overlook things..."

    Honestly, I just think people want something new to bitch about. We don't have any details on what exactly this is going to entail. It may be as unobtrusive as a pre-game ad stuck in the load-up cycle, or animated billboards while we're walking through city 18. No one really has the right to freak out just yet.

    The rest...well...software pirates will go to all lengths to make up excuses for their piracy.
