Calling these machines "underpowered" shows a gross misunderstanding of their purpose. They're not supposed to be desktop replacements. They're designed to be "enough" computer for use on the road or in the field. You don't need a supercomputer to run an office suite, web browser, and e-mail client, and these laptops are designed with that in mind. You don't need a computer at all to do those things.
Most of the Black people voted for Clinton's husband when he ran for president. And most of them voted against Al Sharpton when he ran. How do those cases fit into this belief that Black people just vote for whoever is Black?
I also think it's worth noting, if everybody was voting for whoever matched their own physical characteristics then Hillary Clinton would have won and Obama would not have a chance in the world. Maybe a lot of people actually think Obama is the best candidate. Maybe the Black people, like the rest, are just voting for who they think is the best candidate.
So, maybe what they need are very regular-looking glasses with what appears to be a neckstrap but is actually a set of fibre-optic cables leading to a hidden processor and recorder.
I, and a couple of other people, would be unemployed without my car. And we'd spend a lot of time close to home, not seeing each other much. We're all doing fine without an iPhone or iPod Touch.
making such distinctions only serves to demean those individuals and their works
Or, maybe a troll was implying that Black people can't accomplish anything and this poster was providing counterexamples, and got modded a troll himself for saying something good about Black people. And as long as I'm going to be modded a troll myself, I think it's worth noting that those places in Africa, that you claim are so terrible, were not in that condition before European colonization.
I've think the brain just drops conditioning it doesn't need, and puts it back later if it comes up again. Kind of like a cache. Maybe it isn't so stressful on the brain in particular, if this is a core function of the brain. Maybe it's just generating a feeling of disorientation.
Case in point, a fortnight ago I went to a delightful ball with my dear fiance and our return trip was oh so romantic, snuggling with him as the carriage roughly swayed. There is just something about those snorting, sweaty beasts that a rumbling mechanical carriage can't replace.
Keeping the old drive opens up the possibility to claim the drive was the problem when it was really a loose connection, or to claim the drive cannot be repaired while it actually can. In either case, the repair shop could charge the price of installing a new drive while keeping the money and returning the iPod with the old drive working.
It's hard to believe a gentleman-CEO on a semi-respectable website would throw racist terminology around.
If you were a Black person in the United States, you would not find it hard to believe. You should also not be surprised that nobody on Slashdot sees the problem, and you got modded down for even bringing it up.
I heard they're using a Zune as a controller and it doesn't support their Blows Up For Sure technology. Darn. However, they will be able to "squirt" up to three nuclear bombs at us. They just won't blow up until the U.S. buys them too. Darn.
I think the guy needs to try to get professors from other colleges to encourage their students to play the game and use what they've learned from the game in their classes. Maybe if they get a grade for it, they'll be more likely to do it.
Imagine the insurance claims the cell phone companies will have to file... when people start shaking their phones and accidentally throwing them through their HDTV's.
True, but the offtopic post probably qualifies more as "stuff that matters" than a math problem at MIT. Maybe the intended subject was so boring that the anonymous coward decided to post something more relevant to people's lives. Maybe there should be a +1 "Better Topic" for cases like that.
I think Hillary knows if she can turn this into a race issue then she'll win, and she's hoping everybody will think the way you do.
Yes.

Green jocks and green weightlifters...

Suddenly the blogger's union idea seems worth a second thought. Maybe not a third, but at least a second.
This was one of my textbooks in college. We used it for Squeak.

Imagine her having to watch some ads she can't skip before it starts.
Stolen radios and GPS would be an even bigger threat if the ones bought legitimately were intentionally built much more crappy than the stolen ones.
I know you can't tell but, trust me, she looks like an idiot in these things too. She just has a way of distracting people from the glasses.
I felt that way about my guy too.
Don't forget, SCO was threatening rich corporations while the RIAA is threatening poor humans.
I was about to mod you Off-Topic but it's the day before Christmas so I'll post my own off-topic message instead.

I would think taking up more of the available memory would just give IE more of an advantage over Firefox.

I think another possibility is G-mail would be exactly the same but everybody who praises it now would be condemning it as an evil Microsoft creation.
